Sewing Christmas--Cotton Floss

Lots of stitching happened this weekend while the family was away.  Truth be told I was bored to tears.  What ever will I do when the children leave the nest?  Lots of stitching I guess...I recently purchased a  copy of Natalie Lymer's Cotton Floss.  It was put out by Cinderberry Stitches which is a wonderful little Australian company.  Flipping through the pages I found just the project I needed to sew with a stash of fabric I've been hoarding.

Cotton Floss can be purchased here.

Although I love these beautiful reds and blues...I am drawn to the greens and yellows.

Lori Holt's Sew Cherry is amazing.  I know I've said it before but it is worth repeating. Beautifully geometric with vintage colors and feel.  I could go on and on...Perfect for this darling pattern.

A needle case.

This is one of 5 patterns in a set that will be stitched with this fat quarter lot from Sew Cherry.

Pockets and rick rack.

This time I put the linen hanky fabric through the printer!  I scanned the image from Cotton Floss.  Carefully taped the linen to the paper and changed the print to light grey.  Worked like a charm.  At least with my printer.  I need to get a light box.  It is on my list.  My Joann's coupon is burning a hole in my pocket.

These are just a few of the companion pieces that go along with the needle book.  Charming little projects that work well with the fabric.  These sew up with ease and will make great little gifts.  It is a wonderful book that I highly recommend.
Join me over at Sewn with Grace to see other wonderfully made Christmas gifts.

  1. How pretty! I wonder if my printer would take fabric just taped onto the paper? Hmmm, well, I'll try it some time. Just received an order of Printed Treasures - fabric for the printer - so I'll probably try it first. Want to print a photo or two.

  4. The needlebook you made is so pretty! You always find the cutest fabrics! Looks like that book has loads of great patterns and ideas.
(When your children all leave the nest you cry. After a while you adjust to life with fewer people in the house. Then you find new things to do to fill your time. And every time your phone rings you HOPE it's one of your babies.)

  7. Oh these are cute and I love the colors too. A light box. They are large and you don't use them all that much. You know I've seen them for sale in the Stampin Up catalog. They run about 50 dollars.

  8. As usual you've gone and done something SEW cute! Me thinks you are a danger to leave alone unless you've got plenty of fabric, which is why I sent you some! Can't wait to see what you come up with next.

    Love ya'

  9. OH.MY.EVER-LOVING.WORD.!!! This is amazing. Ok, let's talk techie for a moment. What is linen hanky fabric? How do I get some and I can put it through the printer? The problem I have with using a light box is that mirror-image thing and also drawing fine detail for embroidery can be tricky depending on pen used and the stretchiness of the fabric. I like that you can print using a light grey. Perfect. You always inspire!!
