Apron Strings

Now that I can see my gorgeous vintage fabric my mind is turning with all the colors and patterns.  I want to sew them all at one time.  With restraint, I pulled out two gingham aprons from this past years purchases and started cutting and pinning.

Gingham in aqua and pink.  One with rick rack the other stitched in chicken scratch.  Both handmade and lovingly worn.  I took advantage of the patterns and sewed along the natural seam line.

I drew my inspiration from this darling rubber doll that came in the mail via ebay.  The bright pink dress and aqua eyes worked so well together they were worth repeating.

I always feel like I need to add a modern touch to these pieces.  Something of a signature.  This is vintage stitching pattern on white linen.  Just a little bit to say it is my work.

Miss Jenny in her mary jane's.  Perfect hair bows always in place.  A slouchy teddy fast asleep cradled in her arms.  She is just darling.

The back was just a happenstance.  All the leftover fabric used just so.  Even the apron strings made the ruffle.  It might just be my favorite so far.

Pink bows are for kittens too.

Reagan has found a new spot.  It is the dough bowl on the game table in the basement.  I think he thinks he really fits.  I wouldn't dare tell him how much he is hanging out!  He will sleep here for hours?  Now if only I can get him to wear a pink bow!

  2. You really do make the cutest things. Another darling project brought to life. The pink bow on your kitty adds the perfect touch. Speaking of kitties, I chuckled outloud when I read your comment about Regan in the dough bowl. Our Penny has definitely put on the pounds this past year and she doesn't quite fit inside game box tops very well anymore.

The girl in your opening pic is so cute too- with her DOTTY dress!

Silly Reagan! Surely that bowl can't be too comfortable! My kitties always go for the soft spots.

    Have a happy day! ♥

  11. I hope Reagan doesn't see this post. I think he fits just fine! Now that I look at it, it seems like dough bowls are meant for kitties to sleep in!
You're alot braver than I am. I don't know if I could ever cut up an old apron, but after seeing your pretty pillow, I just might change my mind!

  12. Your pillow from recycled aprons is so cute! Bluebirds and gingham just seem to go together. What is it with cats and containers that are too small for them to fit into? They are such characters!

  13. What an adorable job you did on the pillow! I really love the colors!

The little kitten and doll are so cute! They tie everything in so perfectly!

And yes, I agree with you! Reagan does not seem like the type of cat that would appreciate the shade of pink, or a bow, or to be removed from his special spot!
