Scraps!

I would have loved to have had a set of Betsy McCall dolls.  Mine were the five and dime variety.  The kind you punched out of a book.  Not that I am complaining but when I happened upon these beautiful Betsy dolls I realized their was an entire story wrapped up in them.  Lines of clothing.  Seasonal even.  One of the sheets reads that her dad is James and he is 6 feet tall...of course.  She even has a doxie named Nosy.  Oh how much I have missed with just my five and dime paper dolls.  Thank goodness these can be found online.  Even in one spot.  Follow the above link to see the original line of Betsy McCall dolls on Pinterest.

It just so happened that I had to stop by the church charity shop to unload a couple of bags.  Which meant I had to stop and check the shelves for goodies.  This fantastic stack was marked at 5 dollars!  An outstanding purchase that I will drool over for weeks.

This is the only completed circle in the bunch.  I can tell that some of them were clothes she must have cut up.  Most of them are feed sack.  Some of them are canvas.  All of them are lovely.  I counted around 170 half circles.  That makes 85 whole circles of quilty goodness.

All of which are hand stitched.  Incredible!  That can make years of pillows, pincushions, ruffle trims, I could go on for days, months, years even.

This darling green glass was just icing on the scrap cake.  Can't imagine how long these have been sitting and waiting to be finished, but I can see the love that went into them and I am ready to show it off.
