We have had roofers on or near the house for over a week. I think my dogs might have had a mini psychological breakdown with all the noise. One of my car tires have been replaced and one plugged thanks to the primo cleanup crew. I have learned a couple of things along the way.
1. I do not get along with Contractors.
2. I have very bad luck.
3. We will never get another roof.
4. I may never get over this.
This is the meager lot from a swift trip to the thrift store. I finally got a chance to leave the house for a few moments today.
Genius these older pill bottles with a turn dial. I would still use these if they had them. Love the green cat.
Gorgeous starburst pattern box filled with notions.
Vintage patterns.
Buttons and snips...
Poor spun head angle sans wings.
A lovely set of artist brushes from the fifties and sixties. The paint splatters are beautiful up and down the handles. After a week and a half of roofing they still have to put the gutters on and paint. I hope I live through this renovation trauma...
very nice things that you found...roofers can be annoying and make a mess at that..hope it's over with soon...hugs
ReplyDeleteWe did our roof a few years ago (complete tear off) and it was the WORST home improvement project we have ever done - messy, dirty, loud, wrecked havoc on my flower beds..the list goes on. Hope you survive...at least you found a few treasures today. Thanks for rescuing the spun gal....
ReplyDeleteEgads. I'm sorry you've been dealing with the stress of a roofing project. Thank heavens your trip to the thrift store produced a happy ending. I am completely smitten with your vintage pattern graphics.
ReplyDeleteI swear when it's time to replace our roof, we'll schedule it in the summer so that Chris (aka Mr. Mom) can be home to supervise. I can stay safely tucked away from the chaos and noise at my office.
Thinking of you Renee, amazing finds at the thrift store! Glad you got a little relief!

Oh my. Don't get me started on roofers. We had the WORST roofers ever doing our roof last year. The boss was a complete jerk. Him and I went round and round. I kid you not! I almost told him to leave. I would had if it weren't for waiting so long to get them here to work. It took them quite awhile and then they never came back to finish up. The contractor had to get someone else out to finish. Funny thing was, the new guy was a high school friend of my husbands.
ReplyDeleteI had planted 4 peoney trees. One lived, but they killed it! The contractor paid me for it, but I was still ticked. I hope we never have to go through it again, but I am not so confident in the roofers work, so I really hope we don't.
It is a good thing that I was not a blogger when this was going on, or all of my Followers would of left me. Yep, it was that bad.
LOVE the starburst box!
ReplyDeleteThe roofers we had this year were fairly good. I KNOW how amazing. Although they were to call the hubby the day before they were to show up so he'd be here to make sure the were doing things correctly ( he can roof a house but not alone in one day). They did not call him. They put a white rain diverter on the shingles. Something he told them NOT to do. He would not pay them until they returned and removed that area of shingles and the diverter and put new shingles on. Which was almost 2 months. Aside from that...it wasn't bad. We were very lucky.
Congratulations on the wonderful thrift store finds!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I hear the horror stories of home remolding, new construction, or really any home improvement when someone besides family is doing the work its make me more THANKFUL for my very own MR. FIX IT!!!! I am so blessed. Hang in there!! I am praying for you and your sanity!!
Just go hide out in your studio until it is all over:O
Hugs
Hhahhah I am seriously so sorry for you, but you did make me laugh. I am even more sorry for your dogs, poor things. I do hope you survive so we can continue to vist your delightful blog and read new posts. I love, love the patterns. Be stong and use your ear plugs :D!

Contractors will try your soul, there's no doubt about it. You and your pups, oh my. Hope it's over soon. Love the things you found at your quick thrift trip!

Uggggh, I feel for you. I can say that having work done on the house is like being held captive and at the mercy of the whims of the contractor. That being said, I decided it would just be easier to marry my contractor, so now I have much fewer problems to deal with. The only problem is getting things done here at home . . . but when I do, you can bet the contractor is making sure there are no nails in the driveway and that he cleans up his mess! And doesn't start TOO early making noise! Honestly, I married him for his great big heart and huge dimples, but the contractor thing was definitely a perk!! Good luck, I hope it is over very soon, and that you don't need any more replacement tires. Watch where you walk though, a nail in the foot isn't pleasant either! Soon it will all be a distant unpleasant memory . . . hang in there.

We had our roof reshingled just a few weeks ago. They left a mess, too. In fact, I had my hubby call the roofer and complain of trash that had been left. There was even a water bottle hidden in one of my bushes!! So I understand your frustration.
ReplyDeleteReally curious as to what you're going to do with your new thrift store finds. :)
If that's a swift trip than I can't imagine a long one! :) Love your new finds. I can't stand work on the house either. It makes ME have a mini psychological breakdown!
ReplyDeleteYou might call it meager but I think you made some great scores!! BTW... Love how your cat played along propping up the patterns - LOL!
ReplyDeleteI hope the roofing nightmare is over soon. We are getting a new roof on the building where I work and it involves hot tar and has been going on over a month now. At least the hammering isn't above my part of the office anymore but the STINK knows no bounderies!
