I literally had a stack of books for this week. Yes, I have issues with vintage story books. I could probably do a daily blog on vintage children's literature. Don't tempt me...I only have so many hours in the day. This week Nurse Nancy won my heart. I found her at an estate sale minus the band aids.
Do you think I could find that darling stool?
I would have gone into nursing if they still wore those hats.
A tricked out wagon/ambulance!
There is a companion book Doctor Dan. Also put out by Band Aid. I have found it once but it was ridiculously priced and far worse for the wear. I will wait for it to fit my budget...
Join me again over at Miss Corey's for another edition of Lil' Vintage Story Books.
eeeeeeeee! I HAVE that book from my childhood. After a recent post you did about the vintage children's books I said I was going to hunt for mine and now I really have to find them. I know they are around here somewhere. When I was little I SOOO wanted a wagon like that with the soup can headlights!
ReplyDeleteNow, I'm going to need to search through my golden book collection to see if I have Doctor Dan. If I do, it's coming your way.
ReplyDeleteI had totally forgotten about Nurse Nancy, but I had that very same book when I was a girl. I vividly remember the Band-Aids and being so sad when I had used them all up. They were so precious to me! I'm sure it was Nurse Nancy that made me want to become a nurse when I was young. Thanks for bringing back this wonderful memory.
ReplyDeleteI loooove this book, but don't have it, do have Dr. Dan from childhood but the band aid is long gone :) About those hats, I had one and hated it, I'm afraid I was part of the movement to do away with them (same generation that supposedly "burned our bras"!) They were cumbersome but I'll always remember the first day we were "allowed" to wear our caps. Wish now that we still wore them ! E in TN
ReplyDeleteI've seen Doctor Dan before, but never Nurse Nancy- so cute!! I love the dollies in the beds on the cover! Thanks for linking up again!
ReplyDeleteWe had Dr Dan. I gave my kids all their books back so it might have been in that bunch. Love these old book and I would grab one too if I ever see one around here. I have picked up a couple in ten years here.
ReplyDeletehey - now I know of a nurse nancy but not sure if it's the same one! mine was in a comic called twinkle...! I'm gonna look her out!
ReplyDeletefee x
I have never seen Nurse Nancy, have Dr. Dan with one bandaid! I love these little golden books, cute, cute, cute, can never get enough of the vintage graphics. Thanks so much for sharing, Marilyn
ReplyDeleteThis is such a sweet little book. Darling illustrations. I don't think I've seen it before. I'll have to try to remember to join in this meme next week.
ReplyDeleteOh how adorable! I love nurse Nancy and her little turned up nose!
ReplyDeleteI bet you could make a stool like that, Renee! ♥
I have this book and it is not why I became a nurse. My Mother made me go into nursing because my sister was a nurse!! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI have tons of Golden books that I have saved and picked up over the years! They are up the attic. i guess i should bring them down.
And I could not wait to get rid of my cap when they said we did not have to wear it any more. It gave me a headache!! LOL!!
Hugs,
Debbie
This is one of my all time favourite LGBs. I have old copies of both Nurse Nancy and Doctor Dan - minus the original bandaids. I was thrilled to bits when they were re-released a few years ago and I was able to pick up new copies with the bandaids! I have them up on a high shelf so my kids won't be able to use the bandaids. I don't know why but those bandaids mean so much to me.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, that is soo sweet!! I never knew these existed!! I will be on the look out for them!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Lynn

I love Nurse Nancy -- so reminds me of my 1960's childhood (when girls grew up to be nurses or teachers, lol).
ReplyDeleteBlessings!

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI found Doctor Dan at an antique mall today. I would be glad to send it to you if you send me your address. It even has the band-aids in it-so cute!
