Sewing Christmas October...

This has been on my list of to do since I found it last year in the bins of the thrift store.  Now that the weather has turned I know that my time is limited to get it done before the "Season" is upon us.  After a long weekend of yard work and house chores Claire and I broke the seal and laid out a few of the patterns.

Just the packaging alone is enough to make me happy...simple vintage graphic.

Homespun crafts that called for hours around the lamp light.  I am not going to lie this doesn't look easy.

The colors are perfect and the sequins is delightful.  Just imagine how long it is going to take me to put all those glass bead in that bag on?

This is the large snowflake design laid out.  There are touches of pink, blue and green on the edges.

This is the medium snowflake design with the green center.

This is the gold centered medium snowflake.  There are small snowflakes still to be laid out for the center. Not a stitch has been sewn but it is out of the package.  I have hopes of finishing it before Thanksgiving...this is a gift for myself.

I am linking this up to Sewn with Grace for another wonderful month of Sewing Christmas.  You have to pop over and see her amazing Christmas Quilt.

  1. How sweet is your tree skirt!!! You'll have to keep us posted on the progress along the way. I have a felt sequined Christmas card holder that used to hang on the back of my grandparent's front door. I {heart} vintage Christmas. I might just go from Halloween to Christmas.

  2. Renee, I LOVE it! A truly fabulous vintage find!! I'm so glad you found it and are going to make it... I can't wait to see a finished picture. You always do such an amazing job on your projects, I know it's going to be beautiful! These kind of crafts bring back such wonderful childhood memories for me. I have a small collection of my own sequined/jeweled/beaded christmas ornaments made by my mother and by my husbands grandmother, or things that were purchased at a church Christmas bazaar.

  4. I'm cheering you on because this will be amazing when it's done -- I hope you'll log your hours spent on it. I'm also cheering you on because I have weakness for vintage sequined Christmas tree skirts. No idea where it came from. I just love 'em. :-)

  7. Love the tree skirt! I was tempted to tell you to hot glue them on but I know better than that. It will be so worth your efforts. Put a good movie on, with some hot cider and the time will fly! Blessings!

Back in the 1970's when I was a teenager working at Sears. A lady used to sit in our break room sewing tree skirts like yours. I was totally is awe. Ours at home were just the red felt ones.
