While I was out having lunch with my parents today I took the opportunity to stop in at the thrift store on that side of town. It has been hit or miss lately. Sometimes I wonder if the items I choose (out of the thousands) come from the same house?
A gathering of colors found amongst the plastics and electronics.
My sweet blogging buddy Kim K. needs just one more of these...don't you think? This one is phenomenal. Amazing graphics. Printed in 1938 in Detroit. On the back are the directions below the checker board state it is an American made game for American made girls and boys. I love how it says Checkee. It was in the bin to toss because it did not have all the pieces. (i.e. marbles and checkers) Who would toss this?
Vintage aqua tablecloth sans holes or stains. Very large feed sack fabric piece.
I have direct boy scout orders to grab every wooden camp stool I find. Three dollars seems reasonable to me. Apparently these wooden stools are far more comfortable than the aluminum ones they can buy now.
blogging notes: those sweet heart pins were won in a giveaway last year from birdie blue. I am unsure where she got them.
Thank you for all your sweet comments.
You are too kind and I'm glad your lunch provided an opportunity to do some thrifting. Wonderful finds.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than going shopping and coming away with Great finds... :) Adorable little Camp chair..
ReplyDeleteWhat fun finds. That game board has Kim's name written all over it!!
ReplyDeleteLove the game board and the tablecloth (partial to aqua)!
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed at what gets tossed -- funny to think someone saw no other value in that game board other than its original purpose. Glad you were there to rescue it! (I'd be tossing the electronics...)
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! Personaly, I have 'problem" with those vintage tableclothes and cannot leave one behind!! I love the chinese checkers and often admire them but leave them behind because I can't quite figure out what to do with them. Your plans??
ReplyDeleteGreat finds - love the fabric.

I will keep my eyes open for some during my thrifting. It is so funny how you look at things with new eyes when you see somebody post about them!

Hi Renee...I just love popping in to see what you've been up to...and, I can see that you've been having a lot of fun thrifting and estate shopping. Oh, the aqua blue table cloth is so pretty...I love how aqua is so popular, once again!

Hugs,

I have an old wooden Chinese Checker board I picked up for next to nothing at a garage sale some years back. I always enjoy your blog! So much fun to see what you've got going on! And by the way, I picked up some of those heart pins not too long ago at Michael's.
ReplyDeleteThat checkerboard is gorgeous. Love the graphics xx
