Last week I found this darling Ideal Easter book with the above image in it. Something I always do is pick up books. I am particular. I have a crush on vintage children's books. Collect, yes...Rand McNally Jr. Elf books. Partly because of the size and partly because of their images and stories. I never pass a coloring book (they are great for embroidery images). However, I am an adult literature lover too.
You can put them anywhere.
Highlighting almost anything. The cover of this book can be seen through the glass.
The bindings are as much a piece of art as the literature.
Bowls are perfect for placing them in.
My storybook half bath houses my collection of jr. elf books and tiny tales.
I have grown up books too.
I cannot resist the old readers, bookplates or hardbacks that I find familiar.
There is still room for more.
Basements make perfect places for sporting vignettes.
Studio shelves love color and graphics too.
My favorite of ALL...just kidding...always ready to add more.
Thank you Kathy for asking where I keep my collection.
I love that picture, and I love little books. I just finished framing a picture for my new studio of a little girl with chicks. Not the same, but also very cute!

Anytime I get a glimpse of your collections and your adorable home makes me happy. You have a fabulous book collection.
ReplyDeleteHappy collecting, dear friend!!
A true book collector. I like to collect them to use for display and if they have an unusual title that is a bonus. Nothing like an old well loved book. That Easter gal is darling!
ReplyDeleteYour vignettes are lovely :-) I must now get some cute books!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your collection of vintage books and they way you decorate them around your house! Lovely and so inspiring! :) xo Heather
ReplyDeleteChildren's books are my favourite! I especially love old readers. I don't have any of the junior elf books, they are adorable. I love the old enamel container that you store yours in! I have an e-reader, but still love the actual books, Marilyn.
ReplyDeleteLove your collection and the unusual ways of displaying them.

I am slowly starting to read some of mine i love the idea of who read them before me and when they brought and where they were when they first read them. A bot of a romantic i am. dee x
ReplyDeleteMy Mom collects those antique books with the beautifully illustrated covers. So pretty! Like you, I love the children's books... they can be vintage or new, doesn't matter to me. I'm drawn to their wonderful tales and fun illustrations.
ReplyDeleteThat first picture of the little girl looks so much like the ones my Grandmother had pasted into her scrapbook. She got most of them from magazine covers or from old Ideals books.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your book collection.
Linda
You're collection is really great-I love the Junior Elf books!! WHat cute dislays you have. Gotta get some of mine out.
ReplyDeleteLove it! There's something about holding a book in your hand and turning the pages when reading the pages. I pray that the love of actual books will not be lost in this day of the Kindle.
ReplyDeleteOh, you have a great collection of old books! I'm envious! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing,
Dorothy
I collect old grown-up books as well as the children's and I see the same titles in your pics...Rebecca is a very favorite of mine and I have an old copy. I love when I find the books that some of my favorite old movies are based on. Not only great stories, but the cool vintage colors of the covers make me happy.
ReplyDeleteYou display your collection beautifully! I like the big white tray you can flip through. When it comes to the grown up books with beautiful or interesting covers - yes, ma'am, I will buy a book for it's cover!
ReplyDeleteMy dream is to one day have a house with a room that can be devoted entirely to books, with a window seat to read them! LOVE your collection, especially those Elf books!
ReplyDeleteOH, how I love that shelf in your studio! And what a collection of books you have!
