Needlebooks

Aside from the darling images from last weeks posts the Easter Ideal book has some charming poems.  This one is irresistible. Written by Mrs. (how demure) Roy L. Peifer. You could almost believe bunnies do run amuck clothed in peter pan collars and polka dot pantaloons.

This beautiful tablecloth has seen much better days. It is ragged and worn and stained beyond repair. With just a little careful cutting I can make an entire spring line of...

Needlebooks.

A few little pieces of vintage trim added for pockets and holders.

Pages of felt for needle keeps.

Tied knot for scissor safety and a secure elastic band for closure.

Finished off the back with a patch and full piece of floral print.

A pretty button sandwich to close and some hand stitching. Spring stitching for sure.

  1. Beautiful inspiration, Renee! I should really get busy and make a little book to hold all those needle cards I don't collect. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Oh Renne! Those little needle books are so cute and the colors perfect for spring! You have such good ideas! And the stitching???? Adorable! I wish I had your talent when it came to sewing....I just don't feel motivated to learn it, I didn't enjoy it when I was young and just don't feel much different about it now.... I will just enjoy your talents! :) Sandy

  8. Love the needlebook! I have always wanted to make one, but never have! Thanks for the inspiration! Oh, of course, I love the tablecloth! I do the exact same thing with the worn ones. They always have such beautiful graphics and make such lovely things! Your embroidery work is stunning! :) xo Heather

  9. Very sweet girlfriend, and the tablecloth fabric couldn't be prettier. I bet that hand stitching takes you all of a few minutes. I SEW wish I could use my hands better, I haven't done embroidery in years.

    Big warm hugs,
    Meri

  13. Your needlebooks are so pretty. Don't you just love the images in those old Ideals books? I have several of them that belonged to my Grandmother and I pull them out each season and re-read them.

    Blessings

  14. So glad you breathed new life into that tablecloth! I don't think I've ever seen one with purple in it. That needlebook is SO pretty, and I think that if I see enough people transforming their worn tablecloths, I will be that much closer to being brave enough to do it too!
