I simply cannot thank you all enough for your words of encouragement and support. It has brought such pleasure to me to be able to stitch and share my crafts.
You might remember this awful pink that was supposed to be beautiful but turned out more 1988 mauve than I hoped.
No better time than "Where Blogger's Create 2012" to turn this piece back into the treasure it was. With that in mind I settled between Romaine or Butter Up.
Butter Up won me over.
Pardon the reflection of the cleanest floor around?
Painted that puppy right over the pink (I do love my chalk paint) and gently sanded to reveal the original pecan and peaks of pink.
But the doors just had me stumped again. Sprawled on the floor with my book collection I found my go to Bumper Book. Such great illustrations. These two number pages immediately caught my eye.
Perfection at last.
While the paint brush was out (yes, I am dangerous) a nearby footstool got a face lift and a decal. You can just see the pink alcohol ink over spray. It is not just for scrap booking...right?
I have absolutely the worst lighting in my studio. No matter how many lamps, lights or bulbs I try the glare, color or film always causes photo issues...but it doesn't stop me from sewing.
Lettuce just say that I admire your love of color and how your put it all together (so perfect with the wallpaper)! And I'm right there with your about painting -- once the brush is out, everything holding still is fair game. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is the perfect color!! Love the shabby details, and the illustrations! So sweet!! The stool doesn't get any cuter!! So happy for you in opening up your amazing shoppe!! ;) xo Heather

This really is so much cuter than that particular shade of pink was. Good choice!! (I like the lettuce too.) I don't think there is anything that can take the place of natural outdoor light. But your room is cute no matter what.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute idea to do with the doors! Now you have something new to look at and it's so much fun with graphics!
ReplyDeleteYour studio is so uplifting! Your creations are simply reflections of your craft room. You do vintage proud!
ReplyDeleteThe yellow over the pink was brilliant and love a tease of that pink (or was that 1988 Mauve?) Keep in mind I got married in 1989 and mauve was one of my colors...YIKES!
ReplyDeleteThe yellow was perfect! The lighting in my craftroom is terrible! I would love to have my room ready but I am afraid it's not going to happen as the garden produce is beginning to take over this weekend! Beautiful transformaiton!

ReplyDeleteLove the butter cup choice - perfectly sunny!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried the bulbs that say "daylight" on them? I have a lot less trouble with the color in my photos since I switched everything out to those bulbs.
One pat or two??!! Your reborn cupboard adds the cutest bit of sunshine to your "playroom"!
ReplyDeleteYou have chosen well, my sweet friend...and,oh, your choice of trim is so full of whimsy!
Hugzzz,
