I have put my finest party dress on for this years edition of "Where Bloggers Create 2012". This year I added an entire wall of shelves and some gorgeous Cath Kidston chintz wallpaper. Big changes. Come on in and take a peek...
These shelves continue to serve as the central storage solution and focal point for so many of my vintage finds. All the bread tins hold fabric, felt, ribbon, greeting cards, and more.
You will find millinery in the lamb doll trunk, map pins in the doll dresser, stamps in the wicker baskets and playing cards in the tool box.
The freshly painted hutch holds packing supplies for my shop while the corner cabinet keeps my fabric bolts handy.
There is no color scheme to speak of so anything vintage goes. A favorite hankie garland hangs on a vintage laundry line.
More shelves for fabric and pattern books. Vintage kiddie records decorate the door frame with curtain pins.
Betsy (the dress form) nestles in between the shelves ready to display the next creation.
My big pink harvest table (salvaged from years of wear and tear in the kitchen) doubles as the cutting station, sewing central and paper crafting palace.
The art work has a tendency to revolve in my room as seasons change so I hang them on the wall with 3M removable strips.
Surrounding myself with my favorite artist work inspires me to create. This mini quilt made by Janelle Wind, clip boards via Magpie Ethel, pin cushions from Beths Bagz, small dress form from Georgia Peachez, glittered creations from Kim K. and so many more.
A pink rug graces the floor for the three dog that often fight for space under my feet.
My love affair with shelves doesn't end with the kind that perch on the floor.
If I can't stitch a vintage item the next best thing is to re purpose it.
Silverware tray to book display.
Crayon box to fat quarter keeper.
Handy Andy tool box to sewing trim storage.
These are all ideas I have soaked up from this wonderful blogging community. The ingenuity, creativity and generosity overflows. A huge thank you to Karen for hosting again this year and to you all for stopping by my favorite little place in the world.
Now pop over and see all the other wonderful creative spaces.

Reneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....we were separated at birth...I'm telling you. I was looking at the things you collect and can not believe it...who knew others liked the old children's records, Fisher Price Little People, old metal doll houses, etc. I absolutely love, love your room. The Cath Kidston wallpaper is perfect. I am going to look at the photos again to see all of the ideas. I love the idea of using the metal picnic baskets for storage and the doll bed. I also love the idea of using a laundry line for hanging things on like a banner. I am so going to try to do the Spelling Board...would look cute for for holidays. Thank so sooooo much for sharing.

I'm in love with this room! The whole nostalgic vibe is wonderful! I had one of the pressed tin dollhouses. It makes me want to find one of my own!
ReplyDeleteGulp! I am speechless.. so beautiful and such creative stuff all in one place... I love it.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that just the sweetest room ever! I can't believe how much creative ideas just come oozing form here! It is such a wonderful thing that you can surround yourself with things you love. Too many adorable things to mention. But I do want to mention one. It is your cloth laundry hamper on wheels! I would love to see a better picture of it if you have one? I have been wanting one like yours forever! My mom had one that I believe is the same as yours. I have always missed it, and the wonderful memories I have with my mom when she hung things on the line. Thanks you for sharing your space!

Susie

ReplyDeleteI know this is saying a lot, but it's true, out of all the crafting rooms I have seen, yours is the best.
ReplyDeleteBefore I came back to these pictures for the THIRD time...I went back to December 2010 to see what your room looked like then. Boy, have you evolved! Your studio is an wonderful combination of talent and ingenuity. You have made the most of your space and in the process, created an almost museum-like monument to the 1950's. I have known for a long time that you have been given marvelous gifts and you use them in the best possible ways. Not only are you an inspiration to cloth and paper crafters alike but you are a darned sweet lady!! Bravo to you Renee!

Just love, love, love it all! You and I have such the exact same taste!! I know I've said it before, but I am so envious of your full wall shelving-it's just the perfect solution for displaying our kinds of collections. But I know my husband would have a conniption if I asked him to do it in my studio, since we spent a lot of money on the cabinets I now have...! Maybe someday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun space! Reminds me of candy store! SO much eye candy! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWow this space is like a sugar shop. Everything just added in to make one huge irresistable room. Love that you are able to do your colors and patterns up so well. That is an artform all on its own. Your vintage pieces are wonderful. Keep smiling and creating thanks for sharing.

Hi Renee! I'm finally getting over here! Boy was it worth the wait!! I am not typically a "color" girl, but your studio just makes me smile! It is so cheery and fun! Thank you so much for sharing it with everyone. I know we all enjoyed it!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, is your space so gosh darn cute, or what?! I had fun.. and I mean that in the truest sense.. taking a peek around every corner and every nook and cranny. The vintage hanky garland was so sweet. The collection of tin bread boxes was delightful. And that farm table you work at.. it's pink, isn't it? Love that! Thanks for sharing and when you get a chance, drop on by mine. The only thing I have from the era you love is the folded vintage tablecloth I use as a valance in my entry way. Love those, don't you? Thanks again!!
ReplyDeleteHello Renee!! I am over the moon for your sweet studio - what a magical, whimsical, inspiring space!! Your brimming shelves filled with vintage tins that moonlight as fabric and trim storage are as practical as they are beautiful! At every turn is delight after delight...fabulous hankie garlad, repurposed tool box, beautifully frocked dress form, adorable hutch, colorful art - wow! If you can't tell, I LOVE it all!
