Home again...

Phew...we made it. It was lovely, refreshing and fun. By the second morning we all missed our dogs but we persevered and knew we needed to get away from the grind. Our continued hunt for rocks (this time Petoskey was just as fruitful. Mostly, the children got along as a car full of teens can be sharp tongued. Here are a few of the highlights.

The resort was quaint and very quiet. Nestled along the shores of Lake Michigan in the small town of Glen Arbor.

Although there were fewer rocks than Lake Superior, Lake Michigan offered up a gorgeous color and loads of sand.

Glen Arbor was small but suited for tourist. We rented bikes, tubes and kayaks to meander around the lakes and rivers. No visit would be complete without a visit to the mesmerizing Sleeping Bear Dunes. Upon which we swiftly flung our shoes off and proceeded to climb.

The water was amazing.

Thank you Michigan...our home away from home.

P.S. I snuck into one antique store and I did a bit of hand stitching...can't wait to show you tomorrow.

  15. Glad you had a good time! Aw, Sleeping Bear Dunes! We lived in the Manistee area for 5 years. I miss the Lake, the wind and the awesome thunder storms that would roll in over the lake! One house we lived in had a lake view and we would look for ships through the telescope! Good times! (There were some really bad times there too, though! Ha!)

  19. Beautiful photos. It looks like a lovely place to visit. The picture of the yellow VW Beetle took me back a few years. Exactly the same as the first car I owned. The heating system was awful (air cooled) so in the winter I used to have to lay hot water bottles on the dashboard to stop the front window from freezing up so I could see out! Look forward to seeing your stitching and finds.
