Chair of Roses



Every time I open the doors in my mending studio it is going to be coming up roses.  It has turned out just like I imagined.  Vintage, colorful, curvy and comfortable.  My fingers are numb from ruching and sewing but I am not complaining because I am going to be sitting in a garden whenever I want!  This is my garden of Wilunder roses in the French countryside.


The paint does so much for the lines of the chair. You can see every bend and turn.  It doesn't hurt that there are miles of that red gingham ruching to show them off.  Who knew it would take that much?  


Perfect staple placement and very particular trim glue make this worth every ache and pain.  I have estimated about 21 hours from start to finish.  I would do it again in a minute.  Can you just imagine a table with different chairs around it all covered in tablecloths?


You have to smile when you see this!  
It is just unexpected...


Happily placed under a tray of roses in the mending studio.  I wish you all could see how sweet it turned out.  It is comfortable too.  I had such a tiny pile of scraps left over probably less than a cup full.  Not enough for a pillow. That will have to come from something else.

    It is marvelous!! I love those vintage tablecloth prints. I've made curtains and covered chairs seats with them...but I love your idea of dining chairs with a different fabric on each one!

    Renee! It's gorgeous! Where/how did you learn to re-upholster? The gingham ruching and piping are like icing on a cake. I have no doubt that you will find the perfect coordinating fabric for a pillow. You need to call Trish over at Good Ju Ju and start selling your creations.

    I'm so glad I stopped back on my way to bed. Now I'll be dreaming about roses...you did a fantastic job Renee! You've elevated that humble tablecloth to a higher purpose and now you'll see those roses every day...not just at company mealtime!

    I can't believe you went to town and got that chair done so quickly - Renee is is AMAZING. Absolutely adorable and digging the fabric and details that you worked into it. I agree that a table with chairs surrounding it like this would be spectacular! You rocked that chair!

    My goodness! I LOVE that chair. Even before you put that spectacular fabric on it, the lines of the chair were gorgeous. But WOW, that is some gorgeous fabric. Would have never thought to use it on the chair, but I am so in love with it! Love, Love, Love.

    You can just tell by looking at it that it's cozy and comfy! I knew it was going to turn out pretty, but this is beyond what I imagined. Love it, and your question "What can I get my needle in now?" makes me smile!
