Buttons and Bambi

Drip drip drop little April Shower's...beating a tune as you fall to the ground...My dad bought me that record and I played it endlessly.  Carefully lifting the needle and placing it ever so gently back at the beginning of my favorite song.  This has always been a favorite Disney movie for me.  I had no idea they had Simplicity patterns?  One day this too may come my way...I thank my dear Google for the hope in my heart!

Until then I will be happy with sweet plastic Bambi's with eyes the size of dimes and price tags to match.  Tin boxes of kittens make the best of friends.

But inside you will find a bevy of buttons and gadgets galore...

Giant carved wooden ones.

White frilly girly ones.

Baby blue doily ones.

Jadeite trios.

Glass beveled and Opaline.

Bakelite and carved.

Lucite and...

...enameled.

Sometimes if your lucky...the odd broken pendant!

What else could a cute little tin box hold than the cutest old button collection I have seen in a while?  A meager estate sale lot with a handful of goodness.

  4. I did not know there was a pattern either. It is so cute. The little deer are my favorite. They are just the cutest thing ever.

  6. Good morning, Renee! I love Bambi, too...and those sweet plastic deer with eyes the size of dimes! (they really ARE huge, aren't they?!)

Great find on the buttons--they're some gorgeous ones in there--good job, my friend!

    Hope your Halloween is wonderful!

  7. Hey Girlfriend,

My mom made us "Sword in the Stone" hand puppets when we were little, but she bought all the Disney patterns. She then sold them in a garage sale in the 70's so I can't have them now. However, with your talent, there's no reason why you couldn't re-create those cute critters again, even without a pattern.

Have you searched Google for someone else that might have scanned those patterns, or did you just want it for the graphics?

    Happy Halloween,
    Meri

  9. What pretty buttons. I love the green enamel one. I hope you do find that pattern soon. I loved that song too. Although Bambi was probably the scariest movie I saw as a kid. Well... Miss Gulch and flying monkeys were probably neck and neck with hunters guns and forest fires for most scary.

  11. Now that I know you heart that Bambi pattern, I'll keep my eyes open for one during my thrifting adventures! And I never realized it before, but it must be the Bambie movie that explains my love for sweet little deer too. That kitty tin is just adorable. They remind me of the kitty we adopted on Friday!

  12. That pattern is SWEET and wouldn't it be fun to make the little animals! So far, I have only come across 1 pattern from that era but I was impressed with how high quality the paper envelope was compared with the later ones. A heavy satin-finish paper and bright, clear printing. Beautiful. Hard to imagine a sewing pattern was once 25 cents!
I love the button box "junk" almost as much as the buttons. That stuff is half the fun of poking through a new stash of butons!
