A word about paper...

Miss Tammy of Tammy's in Love invited me to join in a tag swap. Vintage cartoon characters were the suggested theme. Immediately my mind starts churning with images and ideas, similar to a quilter I suppose. These are the steps I take when I paper craft with vintage images.

The Tom and Jerry images were procured from google but the birthday card image is one I have had for sometime. Collected from a sale most likely. I scanned it into my computer and move it into Photoshop to work with. I should note that I always save and use these images in a jpg. format.

Simple cropping and removal of the food help eliminate the birthday theme. The banner is darkened with the paint bucket option to avoid any further color clashes should I need that portion of the card.

This image was brightened and my tag line added. I make sure that all the images were printed on card stock and in the size I needed before I began.

Ten tags total all cut and ready to assemble. The Bingo cards will act as my "sandwich meat" to give the tag some strength.

In a little under two hours I was able to turn out these cute memories of Saturday mornings...minus the pop bottle, but you get the idea.

The back was meant to depict the end...just like the cartoon did. Finished with a vintage paper clip cut in half for the hanger.

These are such a nice way to display the images I adore from the greeting cards I treasure.

I do hope this has answered your questions. To all of you that leave comments, if you are a non-reply commenter I try my best to get in touch with you and answer.

These are the images I used on my Lunch Box Social.

These have been brightened and cleaned of all words as well.

Thank you Tammy for the invitation.  These will be off to you tomorrow.

  2. I'm so glad to get a sneak peek of your cartoon tags. Thanks for the great info on your process. Lots of times I discard an image because of words or other bits that I don't want. These are fabulous!

  4. darling images, my friend. you're such a talented 'paper artist'. vintage cartoons is such a fun theme, i like how you 'viewed' it through the television in the vintage birthday card.

my dad and his twin brother just celebrated their seventy-fifth birthday, and would you believe their names are... 'tom & jerry'. although, i'm pretty sure they predate the cartoon. lucky for my mom, she and one of her best friends, married the twins and became sister-in-laws.

  5. They turned out perfect! You are good with the PS. I don't know how to do much besides crop and re-size. Do you use the full one or the new home version? I did the trial offer for that but it seemed very focused on photo editing so I went back to my ANCIENT version of the full PS.

  15. I couldn't decide on a "favorite" so I'm doing all mine different. If I stuck to a single theme maybe I could get things done in a few hours instead of making a "finish two today" goal. I always love to see what you make, Renee! I have one more to do...so I better get crackin' =D
