Handy Andy

I loaded up early and headed out for an estate sale. The Ad boasted that the owners had been former antique dealers. I was worried it would be overpriced but I was desperate for a good hunt. Anything to beat the heat.

Twenty bucks and a smile will get you a lot at an estate sale if you are lucky.

Handy Andy was filled with odd tools in the garage and layered in grease until I "Palmolived" him. (He is perfect for bias tape and rick rack.)

Beautiful trims and a bit of sewing.

Gardening...finally!

Cute lady bug Hudson Sprayer.

The Sunset Rose book has stunning pictures in it. Almost technicolor looking.

Whitman Old Maid cards and a super cute blotter paper set of illustrations that look very similar to Mabel Lucie Attwell. Further investigation and my reading glasses are still required.

Single embroidered pillowcase and a huge lot of hankies.

Just when I started to get worried about not finding any in a while. A shoe box full of hankies found its way to me.

  2. You can't go wrong with hankies! There are so many things you can do with them...I have a hard time cutting into them. I just like looking at them and remembering ironing Grandma Zetta's for church. =D

  6. Oh Renee, awesome scores and even more so with that price tag. Yay! BTW, we call our younger son Handy Andy because his name is Andy and he is one of those guys who can go out into the wilderness with a pocket knife and a q-tip and build you a shopping mall.

  9. LOL You were "desperate for a good hunt"! Yes, that about sums it up! Desperate is how I feel if it's been to long. And I'm so glad that you had success on this hunt!
Love that little image of the girl on the bench! Kind of like a Campbell Kid? A kewpie? Now I need to look up that name you mentioned. I'm so glad that you won't have to worry about not having enough cute hankies anymore! :P

  21. I am originally from Kansas, but have lived the last 28 years in Texas having been brought here by my husbands job. The area I live in I would Be lucky if I could get four handkerchiefs for twenty dollars. I want to come back to Kansas to visit and go treasure finding with you. I can never believe the deals you get!
