I love to wrap things. Anything really. A sandwich, card, package, you name it. It is a lot like making a bed. You just tuck in a side and fold a flap here. It makes things feel finished. A perfect way to wrap up a project and start a new one.
Today was not the day to "wrap" my bed. Reagan had big cat nap plans. Off to work I went.
Wrapping was on the list today for a mailing. This is how I begin. Grabbing my favorite vintage pattern paper out of patterns I don't care for (like the ones with bell bottoms!) usually thrifted. The markings and font on these papers are wonderful.
I like to secure my paper with my favorite washi tape on the back.
The fun begins by grabbing my handy tool box full of game pieces and cards. These are great for accents, thank you notes, graphics or just because.
I couldn't stop there....I grab a couple new finds and some old ones too. The fabric tape and tag are from Jaime of Raising Up Rubies. Her blog is amazing and her shop is beautiful. Please stop by and see all she has to offer, you won't be disappointed.
A vintage doily tied with bakers twine.
Secured with fabric tape and tagged askew.
For the final touch I place a little glassine envelope that holds one of my cards. I like to personalize my packages with vintage seals and an initial of the recipient. Lastly, I clip it to the bow and tag by a little wooden clothes pin.
All the while I worked around this flapping tail and massive hairball. Honestly, you would have thought the bed was a better place to rest...
Isn't the best place for them to rest usually wherever you happen to be working? :-) Love those mason jar tags - so cute! And what do you have wrapped around that ruler? Fun!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweetheart It sure is funny how our pets find the funniest places to curl up, love your packaging! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteYour packages really are a special sight to behold. All the details make them perfectly YOU. Reagan just doesn't want to miss out on all the fun.
ReplyDeleteI love to wrap, too...but I need to learn to be more creative! I love yours!

The bed may be soft but you are in the sewing room and pets always seem to want to be where you are! I save every little card, sticker and yes, WASHI tape piece! I peel them off and put them in the little journal of gifts and tags sent and received. I love keeping the colorful details to decorate my blank pages! ENJOYED TWICE!
ReplyDeleteYou take the cake with your packaging..always makes it extra special to get something like that. Almost to pretty to open!
ReplyDeleteWrapping Christmas gifts is my favorite part of the holiday! I like how you store your cards and supplies in that perfectly perfect little box.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautifully wrapped package. I love to wrap too! I always make my tags for Christmas or Birthday gifts. When my grandmother passed away I found all the tags that I had made for her over the years stashed away in a drawer. Makes me happy to think she like them enough to keep them!

ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one with cats in the craft room! ever try to take a lint roller to a cup full of buttons? Doesn't work! ♥
Look at that first graphic! I love that little chicken! I love the way you put your packages together, so fun and creative. anyone would be so happy to get one! You cat Reagan is really cute, and reminds me of my tabby Harley. He is always laying on my bed, or right next to me on my craft table or computer! I am going to check out your friends shop!

Your packages are wrapped beautifully! And of course your kitty wanted to be right smack in the middle of your work surface. Mine sits in my lap and pushes her face up between me and the book I'm reading, or the project I'm working on. Or else she walks across the computer keyboard and pauses, with her foot on "delete"... so many saved e-mails and bookmarks have been lost because of that cat! But I love her anyway. :-)
ReplyDeleteWrapping is so fun, my mom and I both really enjoy it and making it cute and special! :) Your cat is too sweet! He just doesn't want to miss out! lol. Love your little package! xo Holly
ReplyDeleteYou've got it down to an artform! What a nice idea to have a little stash of goodies just for wrapping!
