Patchwork Valentine's

The blizzard of 2011 didn't knock out power to my sewing machine...yet!  I took advantage of the time to work with some of the new Amy Butler fabric.  I've been working on seam matching lately.  I am such a perfectionist it makes this task daunting.  Once again, my daughter Claire was the gifted recipient of this great little patchwork skirt that turned out perfect for Valentine's Day.

I am not sure if I like this new line Soul Blossom.  It has great colors, but the prints are quite my style.  My daughter will appreciate these more than me.  Of course polka dots from Amy's former line make it more cohesive for Claire's OCD mom (me)!

Now the good part...Look at this cute, cute, cute as can be image that Miss Keren of Free Pretty Things for You (http://www.freeprettythingsforyou.com) helped me with.  My daughter just loved the deer shirt from Christmas. *see side bar for former post Oh Deer!*  This sweet deer comes decked out in pearls and a rose.  It makes this skirt just over the top.  I printed it on iron on paper, ironed it onto white polka dot fabric, stitched it around and left the frayed edge for kicks.
If you haven't been over to see Keren's work stop now and go see it.  She is amazing!

Super easy, super cute, picture doesn't do it justice.  I got the pattern over at Moda Bake Shop.  This pattern is done by Melissa Mortenson from http://www.polkadotchair.com.

Thank you Miss Keren, Claire loves it!

Oh I think that skirt was a lot of work. It's darling by the way. I had this skirt on my blog in the summer called the Saturday Market Skirt I was making. I quit right around the last row of squares. I really need to resurrect that and finish it. But that's how I can do just quit on a project part way though, I bore with it I guess.

This apron is precious! But, I've scoured the FPTFY site and cannot find the deer clipart you used. I could only find the Christmas Deer clip. Can you provide a link to it?

Thank you, I love your blog and can't wait to see more.
