Little Red Hen and a Winner

Whitman anything is magical to me.  This company based out of Wisconsin made books, games, cards, stickers and the like.  Saturated colors and hues that jump off the page and animate themselves.  Characters with whimsical features and stories to match.

This weeks vintage storybook is one I don't see much in modern days.

The tale of work ethic is timely at my home.

Polka dot apron and bonnet to match.

Oh my is that white bread!  Yum.....  Heavens to Betsy the thermos and basket to match.

Tug of war with the worms....too sweet to be true.

Reading your blog is one of the highlights of my day at work. I take a break from law and enter your world. I love seeing what you find at sales and many times am a little green with envy! And have been digging out all the aprons, material and needlework that I have accumulated the past 20 years so that I can possibly recreate some of your apron creations.

Thanks for taking the time to take pics and write your blog. I so appreciate it!

Hi Renee,

Thanks for your nice comment! We are on the same wavelength today! This is my favorite Little Red Hen book. The illustrations are so charming and the colors are amazing. My copy is a little worn around the edges, but I still love it. Have a good weekend!

Yes, my kids know this story well! But our version isn't as cute as this one!

And I've thoroughly enjoyed your posts as well! We certainly are lucky we don't shop together, or we'd be fighting over all our purchases! BTW, I found yet another dollhouse this morning...I really do have a sickness!

I love your blog. The pictures of the little vintage books always make me smile. I lucked out and found 7 Little Elf books (including Captain Kitty) for $5.00 at the antique mall a couple weeks ago. That made me very happy. Thanks so much for writing this blog and sharing your lovelies with us.

Good going Jess on your win.
I adore the Little Red Hen. I often mention her to Bob when I spy a similar situation in life. I agree those books are so colorful you can almost eat them!

Oh my goodness! I am so very excited. This is the first time I have won anything online. What a great ending to a very long Saturday. I needed a little pick me up and thought "I will just see if she found anything great this weekend."

Thank you so very much for all you do to make us smile.

I collect Little Golden Books, I love the old ones with the adorable illustrations full of sharp lines and deep colors. I keep a list now, alphabetized so I can add to the growing collection when I go to Thrift stores and vintage book sellers. Do you have a list? I have a few Whitman books that I would be happy to send you.
