I won't lie...there is a Christmas mess at my house. Literally, bins lining the walls of the living room. Major tree lighting renovations have commenced. The lights have been hung outside and flowerpots overflow with juniper and holly. There are scratches all up my arms and thorns under my nails...I love Christmas. For a few moments each week I have snuck downstairs to play with glitter. Want to see?
Gathered up some poker chips and Christmas seals.
Hot glue some Christmas twine to the back of your chosen chip color.
Punch out some Christmas sheet music and twist to make 14 cones per ornament.
Dip the cone tips in white glue.
Dust the glue end into a pile of glitter.
Begin to glue the cones, seam side down to the poker chip.
Mod Podge your Christmas seal to a poker chip.
Glue the "seal poker chip" to the top of the cones and marvel at how numb your finger tips are from hot glue!
What can I injure tomorrow?
fun fun! loving your ornie! See, people like us love christmas so much we have to start early. most of my friends at work think I'm nuts for having decorated already.. but I cant imagine any other way!

Good for you I was tempted to get out some Christmas bins but I had such a mess to clean up from our Saturday Thanksgiving dinner we had here that I just could not hack another mess quite yet! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. I've got to make this-I just love anything with music on it-and glitter? You can't go wrong!
ReplyDeleteYou are so clever I love your ornaments. There is a Christmas mess over here as well. But it is so much fun.

Renee,
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute! I will have to remember this, where did you get the square punch? :)
Oh, Renee these are so sweet!! I might have to try making one or two! I have been wanting to play with some glitter, too! So creative you are!! Sending you Christmas joy!! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteVery sweet ornament! You are so smart! Makes me want to dig around in my totes/bins so find some chips. I have the seals on my craft table!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with awesome idea!
Warmly,
deb
Love the way you did your petals! No Christmas out yet here. Kids are gone so show inventory needs to go back into their rooms so I have an empty living room. Constant shifting of goodies here.
ReplyDeleteI think my crafting room needs to visit your crafting room. Love these! Must make!
ReplyDeleteYou make that look so easy! I'd have glue all over my hands and glitter in my hair! This may be the first Christmas I don't have a tree because my white one needed to be thrown out last year and I can't find another one! My daughter won't let me get a real tree and thinks green ones are "gross" her words. I guess growing up with a white tree has had quite an impact!
ReplyDeleteYes, but worth every searing pain! Very sweet!
ReplyDeleteSo cute and nice to know how these things are made for those of us who are not skilled with the glue gun.
ReplyDeleteAlso very nice to know that someone else has the exact same kind of mess going on in their home ... this is why I blog. Validation.
I love these! Hope your fingers are feeling better. These are really cute.

Maybe this is the inspiration I need to get back into paper crafting! I have been loving my knitting these days and pinterest is so addicting! I have been ignoring both my blog and everyone else s. Forgive me, Marilyn.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh! One wonderful tutorial complete with pix and one to look at! I'm in like Flynn!
ReplyDeleteI love them - so pretty!

aahhh those are really really sweet ;-) dee x
ReplyDeleteThank you Renee I just snagged a bag of these seals from an antique mall while I was on vacation last week. I got a Baggie of about 100 for $1.50! I've been looking at them thinking what can I do with them.....now I just need the poker chips....
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Renee! Love your ornaments. I've been looking at some old discs my hubby has in the garage and thinking about using those to make some.
ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness! I have a couple boxes of those seals and have never really knew what I wanted to do with them. Oh why did I read this at work and I have to wait all day to get home to make these. I don't have any poker chips, hmmmm.. I'll find something else round!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the beautiful idea!
Blessings

What a super tutorial! I may have to make some of these with my kids this year! What a cute idea!
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable! My Mil was giving away a bunch of glitter from her stash at Thanksgiving. I'll have to go back to get some to make with my little granddaughters. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCute creations. I love the pattern. My daughter and I have been purchasing many vintage patterns on Etsy.

Ooo! Fun, fun! I start moving today so I'm crafting through you!
ReplyDeleteThese are lots of fun~ thanks for sharing! =)
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I was at Tammy's yesterday and we were just examining the one you made for her. I must do it! Speaking of glue gun burns, you should see the mega sized blister on my finger right now! Rather...you should not. It's gross. Darn hot glue!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that you are enjoying your holiday decorating!
Erica :)
So pretty Renee..I never use a glue gun without burning myself..NEVER...lol
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful! I love the sheet music paper in the background.
ReplyDeleteSo cute that I wanna cry! Crafting can definitely be a dangerous business, but please try not to burn/scratch/gouge yourself for the rest of the season, ok? I want to see what other goodies you've got in the works!
ReplyDeleteRenee, I love these. No pain, no gain!
ReplyDeleteOh, you clever girl! You never cease to amaze me with your storehouse of ideas. Your ornies are adorable....and, who would have "thunk it" to use poker chips??
ReplyDeleteSimply wonderful, my sweet friend!
Blessings and thanks for your visit and kind comment to my blog.
