Vintage Friends

Its always fun to craft but when you add vintage things to them they seem to come alive with history and stories.  That's what drew me to my spun head family collections and ultimately this wonderful blog community.  Here are a few of my fantastic vintage treasures and the wonderful ladies that bring them to life.

These were meant to be...anagrams, buttons, ribbon spools, vintage cards, ornaments, pipe cleaners and more.  It would never dawn on me to create these beautiful objects on my own.  No I need patterns, guidance and artist that come before me to show me the way.  Enter Laurie better known as Magpie Ethel...and  Bluebird Papercrafts  with Miss Elizabeth.

Really, can you imagine this.  I can't.  Glassine straw, old ornament, chenille stems, the sweetest spun head all glued to an old ribbon spool fastened with a button.  Oh, but there is more, she does these for the seasons.  The witches and skeletons...eek!  Snowman and Santa...Ho! Ho! Ho!  Summer Mermaids that just make you want to swim with joy!  Bunnies to boot!

The sweetest signature around.  Her blog is chocked full of fantastic finds, vintage lovelies, estate sale finds and so much more.  It will take you days to go through.  To top it off, Laurie is one of the sweetest and truly  a gifted artist.  Go take a peek you will find her etsy shop link on her blog.

This dreamy Valentine just came in the mail.  I have to say I have been studying it like a test object.  Miss E. also known as Elizabeth of Bluebird Papercraft/Creative Breathing made this beautiful dolly dingle just for me.  Her art is just magical.  Her words will soothe your soul.  She does paper crafts like I have never seen. I can't even explain the perfection and deliberate details that make each one of these worth their weight in gold.  You will end up bookmarking her website as a reference for crafting.  Elizabeth is one of the most generous people I have ever met.  She is kind to the core and just as gifted as an artist.  You'll walk away from her site just as charmed as I am.

These two ladies and their sites are just a few of the wonderful bloggers that helped me take the leap and join in on the fun.  I enjoy all their posts and stories and I love to add their treasures whenever I can.  I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do.

Oh I know these two ladies too and you are so right about them both. I have some of their work myself and treasure them dearly. I have met some of the kindest, nicest people on blogs.

Can you see me smiling from ear to ear? I love making those little spun head gals and truly never tire of bringing them to life. I love Elizabeth too - her creations are amazing! Between her paper crafting and her magic with the needle...that woman is amazing! Thanks for the wonderful post and making my night! xO

I love E's creations and Magpie Ethels too. I think she has all of the spun head ornaments in creation. Ever since I saw her cute creations, I have had my eye out for the spun heads at estate sales and never find them.

Laurie/Ethel's whimsical spun head girls are the best! They always throw off a spunky, sassy attitude. *LOVE* all of her vintage crafts! And I also was enchanted with a penny rug Elizabeth made recently for Sandy at 521 Lake Street. Laurie and Elizabeth are both very talented ladies! :-)
