Seamed

Break out the maracas!  The heatwave of 2011 is giving us a reprieve.  La la la la la la la la la la....close enough.  Today was so nice and comfortable. Next week we might be able to open up the windows?  Shh!  I don't want to jinx it.  Thank you for bearing with me while I whined.

A few stolen moments in the mending studio brought my front seams together.

Now this is where I can't leave well enough alone.  The aforementioned pattern calls for seam tape on the edges?  Ew...and leave these inner seams?  No can do.  Not to mention that I am not friends with seam tape/binding.

I know that I am making it harder.  This way looks so much nicer and the added weight makes the apron lay better.  I will slip stitch this closed.

While digging in my buttons I found this oh so perfect strawberry and leafy green.  I have a plan!

For now a bucket and I are headed up stairs to cook dinner and stitch over nightly TV.  I wish my dishes were this easy to clean after cooking...

Renee your apron turned out really cute. I so agree with you. Seam tape? Really? I do not like to use seam tape either. Love the buttons you found. Oh and I spy a really cute pin cushion. I am so glad the heat is slaking up for you a little. Today it was 100 with a heat index of 110. Stay cool and enjoy your dinner.

Renee, that is so cute! I really really like it!!The buttons are adorable and perfect for the apron!
It was still pretty warm here, but it sure didn't feel as bad as it has been. I don't know what it got to today.

I love your little chiquita-banana-ruffled-Carmen-Miranda-maraca-shaking girl! Your apron has that ruffled fruity thing going on too. :-) I'ts going to be so cute with the strawberry buttons and the green lining. I really do hope we can open the windows next week!!! I'm tired of being holed up in my stuffy house.

Oh! I'm glad you got some relief from the heat and it looks like your time indoors was well spent - love the apron. BTW... I am not friends with seam binding, either. I have heard there is an attachment for the sewing machine that makes it easier but have not taken the time to look into it. On the to-do list....

So adorable missy. My mom is back in the hospital with a fever, so I'll try to touch base soon.

What an adorable apron, Renee! SO glad you don't go the easy route (I never seem to, either!)

Looking forward to seeing what your newest plan is...!

Hope your weekend is wonderful--and cooler!

THANK YOU for all the sweet images you share with the world. Sometimes, I find the perfect little image to go with my art journaling and some meanie disabled the ability to download. Thanks for not being a stinge-pot and sharing with others!

Oh the sweet apron is coming along so well. I love how you do the color combos. Guess what Pan's breeder in CA sent me a heavy box of vintage trims and buttons that belonged to her Grandma. I was so thrilled to get all those buttons as I've been searching out Etsy all the time for them. Also rickrack here is so spendy and most of the time they are out of the color I'm after.

SOOOOoooo cute. I love a pinny.
(pause for smile to self, thinking of my 18 year old self imagining me saying those words...)

frills, gingham, vintage print, strawberries...right up my street.
Clever you
