Little Red Riding's Hood

My last one is in elementary school for her final year.  I have desperately tried to bribe her to wear a tutu of some sort.  Seems only natural since she has been dressed in one every year since birth.  Nevertheless, she has decided upon Little Red Riding Hood.  Today I attempted the cape.

Christmas Red Velvet and a fun Japanese Red Riding Hood Storybook print.

I have a soft spot for these cute prints and love to get them from Superbuzzy.

Let it be known I proceeded without a pattern...I had one in my head but I couldn't find the one that was worth paying for?  So off I went...cutting with my scissors!

Claire wanted it to be more of a caplet than a cape. (This is on my full sized mannequin.)  I am happy with the details.  Putting the lining on the outside of the hood back trimmed in velvet showed off the fabric more.  The combination of the fabrics and their weight help to give this shape.  Whether it is cold or hot I think this will suit all Hallows Eve.  I am off to find Red Boots!

So cute Renee, love the fabric, I've seen it online but more fun seeing it used for something and how perfect it is for this! I have many years of "costuming" behind me and have spray painted shoes, they held up just dandy for an occasion or two. Look forward to seeing the finished outfit. E in TN

How cute!! I was Red Riding Hood in our 5th grade play...with a long cape..I wished I had had a shorter one...it kept tripping me....lol

And no I didn't dye my hair red...although I could tell some stories on here that would make her laugh at some things that have happened already....lol

Renee did you ever see this fabric; it's by Timeless Treasures Fabrics, Inc. by Kate Honavar. It's a yellow background with a little Red Riding Hood. If you don't have it I'll send it to you I have a yard left. I made some picnic napkins with red rickrack inside the two layers. I know you would love it.

Super cute cape! I dressed my baby girl as Little Red Riding Hood for her very first Halloween. Maybe I will do a Halloween costume post next month.

So stinkin' cute, and she'll be so proud to wear it and show it off. I'll bet she even wears it to school after Halloween is over!

Hugs,
Meri
