A few new things...

We took our brood to Lawrence (home of our beloved Jayhawks...go KU!) the other day to get out of the house and enjoy some time on  Main St. (known as Mass. Street in Lawrence).  It is the most beautiful picturesque small town America.  With brick streets and brick buildings intact.  Even more impressive when there is a Jayhawk on every corner but I digress. After bribing my family with lunch I spent a much needed hour in the Antique Mall.

My loot is small, but I think it is quite mighty.

Nice wooden egg cup for a few cents.

I nearly screamed when I saw this.  Just the box is enough to make my day.  These card images have always been so loved by me...and now I have the box.  Can you even imagine the day when you got 12 brightly colored over sized cards for 79 cents in a box!

This one was tough. I imagined finding a pink one, maybe aqua, if I am lucky a yellow one, but this one is more 1968 green.  Almost sage...not quite avocado. I have been looking for so long and they gave me a deal.  Sold...a salesman size rotary phone at last.

Perfectly placed upon my newest Cath Kidston drawers.  With a tally card (thank you Laurie) and tally sized pencil just in case I need to take a call.

Love the Hallmark cards/box! I'm a KU alum and my daughter lives in Lawrence. Visiting the antique mall on Mass is one of our very favorite things to do together. Then lunch at Free State or any one of the other wonderful restaurants downtown. Thanks for sharing.

Renee you found some GREAT treasures. My husband asked if I wanted to go junking today and of course I said yes. Well, I found a black phone like that. And I came inches from buying it but I didn't. I am with you I guess I was hoping for another color and passed it up.

That box is SOOO YOU. Glad you found an hour to hit an antique mall...my favorite kind of break. The little tally card looks just perfect with the phone. xo

I'm so glad you were able to steal away for a bit of antiquing. That card box is DIVINE. Laurie is right. The box is totally you. How were the birthday celebrations for your special 13 year old? Celebrations all around!

What great finds! I've been looking for a rotary phone too--in red. I still love the sound they make when you dial. My kids just don't get it!

Love that phone!! I used to have one in my art room until one of my sone talked me out of it. It didn't function for dialing or talking but it was plugged in and DID ring so I could hear the phone in the main part of the house. One day, about 10 years ago, I was at my Grandmothers house and she said she would really like a pizza so I said I would call and order one and go pick it up for her. I went into her bedroom where the phone was and it was an old black rotary phone. I had to stare at the thing for a minute or two to remember how to work it - LOL!

Isn't Lawrence the best? I was just in the mall on Mass but I sure didn't see that box or it would have been mine! :o) How cute! I am glad you got it.
If you are ever in Wichita you have to go to the Paramount antique mall. You would love it.
Happy New Year!

Good morning, Renee! How fun to find that card box! I know 2 of those sweet images.

I have a black rotary phone with a terribly tangled cord. Someone must of liked playing with it while chatting! I've thought of painting big hot pink dots on mine. I THINK about a lot of things. ☺

Hi Renee, great to see you're still out antiquing, even right after Christmas! I'm with you, that card box is bodacious! My daughter, 8, laughed when I explained to her what a rotary phone was. She can't believe we actually had to dial. It used to drive me crazy if I missed a number, or didn't completely dial right cuz then I'd have to start alllll over again!

I agree, Mass. Street in Lawrence is a fun small town America downtown. (And I am not a KU Alum.)
Love the Hallmark Mademoiselle box you found!! And the little egg cup is so cute... little girls in pigtails are sweet.

I would have been over the moon to find that card box, because those are some of my favorite cards! And your avocado phone makes me smile. I have a pink, aqua and yellow one, but I'm not collecting them. No really, I'm not!

My father was a 'phone man'. He worked for Pacific NW Bell, before it was purchased by AT&T. I am pretty sure all of the phones in his office were that green. Most office phones were black. So, those were styling! LOVE the card box!

My family and I were at a KOA campground outside Lawrence earlier this fall. I didn't know that it was such a quaint, beautiful town until it was too late. We were there as a "meet in the middle" type place to celebrate my granddaughter's birthday. I must say the weather was beautiful while we were there! I'd love to go back again to check out the main street AND antique mall. :)
