Retail Peace

Another Spring storm is headed our way so I took the opportunity today to hit a favorite antique store.  I could meander the aisle for hours.  No one tugging on my arm...no concern about time.  It is the draw of the hunt that relaxes me.  The thrill of find that brings me back.  There are no lines to wait in like an estate sale.  No one is running to get the bargain and you are in no hurry to get to the next room.  These are the days I take to relax and enjoy someone hard work.  I am willing to pay a bit more for the peace.

There is a particular booth that I love at each of my favorite stores.  Imagine my surprise when I realized it was 50% off.  The sweet nursery book came from her booth.  The Kodak tins have been re purposed by a women named Nellie.  The melon and blue color are beautiful and topped with a decal.  I found remnants of cookies inside?   Strawberries on a vintage tablecloth that will look divine with red and green gingham.  Red metal lunch box with the faintest of stars around the bottom.  Another thing I can't pass on!

I adore these juice glasses but can't seem to pay the price they call for.  This one was marked down.  Detail that can't be explained.  A special place on my desk will be carved out for this.

Ten little Indians coloring book perfect for a frame.  The tea towel was a steal at 50% off and looks like the perfect piece for a bag.

I have been eyeing these forever.  Sweet little pillows, collars or aprons on dresses.  They were too steep for me until the sale at the booth.  I had to hold myself back from grabbing more.

Did someone put Paula Clare on a hankie.  Could this be more perfect?  Oh how far we've come from this to our over PC world.

Put this under the "baby doll crib looked empty".  One of the vendors hung old rattles and toys on a tree.  It was darling.  The duck has a Knickerbocker label and the rattle has tole painted flowers.  The vanity basket had me at the decal...I really cannot explain my decal hoard?
Rain and cold weather are moving in just in time to get some crafting and sewing done.
Oh the sweet price of peace...well worth it.

Oh my. I'm so glad I didn't shut down my computer yet for the night. Your finds are just lovely. How wonderful that your favorite booth was having a sale too. I love every single thing. I can't wait to see what you do with those linens. I love that juice glass. It's calling for some fresh daffodils.

PS. Tomorrow morning's blog post is going to be ground breaking. You ready...I hand stitched a pillow. You won't ever be allowed to inspect it. But it's a start. You are an inspiration!!

Renee you got wonderful deals. You really hit the jack pot. I just love all your finds. The decal in the basket looks like the one that was on my baby bed. I just love it.

I understand 100% what you mean about the browsing being your relaxing time. It is exactly the same for me. My mind goes blank except for the hunt and my planets come back into alignment!

I love nursery decals too, Renee! I'll have to look through your blog and see if you show any others! I also love that you show vintage cards in your posts! These are all cards that I would buy- if I had the money! Ha-ha! I am your newest follower. ♥
