NFS

Lately it is becoming a pet peeve these acronyms.  NFS...I understand dealers need props to hold their goods but honestly they are there to sell your goods.  The last couple outings in the stores nearly every item I got excited about came with a tag marked NFS...not for sale.  I went looking for shelves and found the most darling enamel shelves made from an old kitchen tables leaves.  Some genius had unhinged them and made them into the cutest shelves...marked NFS.  It's enough to make you want to quit...almost.

I spent the weekend with my parents while the boys where away on a scout trip.  The girls spent the day in a local town shopping for antiques. I am always surprised how different things are regionally.   These are the lucky ones that made it home with me.

Bread box in beautiful blueberry blue.

Junior Elf books in titles I don't have.

Red rimmed enamelware perfect for Christmas and a housecoat pattern I have hunted for.

I am a sucker for seersucker.  This apron is child size and just darling.

A gathering style.  Perfect for eggs and laundry.

Something I can't wait to recreate...something that won't be NFS!

Great timing -- I just had the NFS conversation today with a friend. I'd almost prefer there be a ridiculous price tag than an NFS tag. At least then there's the potential of buying it... :-)

I hate seeing those letters, too. Sometimes the props are prettier than what they are selling and it's just not fair. I mean really, if you have a retail store, then sell the darn stuff already. Don't use your personal goodies to make setups, use what there is to sell, and people will be way happier........there, I've said it, and I can hop off (fall off) my soapbox now. That apron is darling, I wouldn't pass it up either.

Hugs,
Meri

This is the first time I've ever seen a true egg gathering apron; so neat!!
I know what you mean about the NFS. I try to remember how it was made to copy, but by the time I get home, I've forgotten.

A gathering style - I've never heard that term and what a great idea. I'm not exactly sure what I would gather but it still sounds like a great idea - LOL!

Do not despair Renee, the way I look at it is, if it was for sale, it would be long gone by the time we saw it! It's true, it's always good stuff, but I guess the owner is enamored with it just as much as us! |Cheers, Marilyn

Yes, wouldn't it be fun to find a both full of cute furniture and it was all for sale!? My antique store friend has that rule for her diplay pieces- which is why my hutch was for sale but it was priced very high at first.

Love your bread box! I am on the look out for new tin pieces now that I have some place new to put them! ♥

I remember working in a very small shop once, and when someone bought one of the handmade lamps we were half in the dark!

that apron is a good idea. Don't see many bread boxes in that blue, I love it.

I'm sure this sounds silly, but when the buttons are buttoned on the apron, try turning it upside down, putting it on your head, and tying the ties under your chin. It looks exactly (minus a ruffle) like one my grandmother gave me that converts from an apron into a sunbonnet. I just dug it out of the cupboard a few days ago and plan on making a couple for Christmas gifts this year.

Hi Renee...
I just wanted to let you know that the apron you found is definitely a bonnet/apron. I have several like that in my collection and my grandma confirmed that's what they are!
The one you found is darling!!!

yes, I've been looking lately for a small shelving unit for Avery's room, and I've seen NFS on many that I was interested in!

Then, if you can believe it, I brought a pair of girl's shoes to the counter at a THRIFT store, and the woman told me she couldn't sell them until next month, because they were part of a display they had out. Really? You're a thrift store- wouldn't you rather get the money now?

Looks like you got some good finds anyway, though!

I am always so frustrated when I see that too! It just drives me crazy. It's almost like false advertising.

I jumped when I saw the Once Upon a Time book! It was one of my favorites growing up and I finally found a copy several years ago. I used to read that book over and over again. So happy to have it in my collection.

You make the most beautiful aprons. I just sigh every time I see a new one.
