Harmony Colors...circa 1958

As I read this booklet I understand now where boring beige began. Pardon me, Parchment Beige.

Wall to wall carpeting? Federal Gold, Canyon Rust and Sage Green for accent I think I saw those at an estate sale recently.

This is where it all went wrong...carpeting in the dining room! Although the furnishings are quite delish! I miss gay accents they are so much happier.

Tweed sofas and provincial prints. Sign me up.

Accent walls and wallpaper. Yes, indeed.

Did they just say in 1958 that we could paint over brick? Shut the front door! This booklet was way ahead of its time.
Next week, the color pallets revealed. Oooh...

You just crack me up. I love those vintage decor ideas. Weird how much of that is back in style again!

I'm with you on the "boring beige" except my sister and I refer to it as "band-aid beige!"

I found the section on disguising architectural defects particularly helpful. I think I'm going to need a lot of paint.

LOL! I love this! I just want to know who is in charge of changing the styles, for crying out loud. I just get it right and then it's wrong.

This is so funny, or maybe it is your narration! :) I agree with the carpet! We have wood floors in our rental, and when I have a home of my own, wood floors throughout, except some subway tiles in the bathroom would be neat! Can't wait for the rest of the booklet! Happy weekend my friend! xo Heather

I have a "how to be a homemaker" book somewhere that tells you when and how to clean everything to keep your house sparkling clean! (mmm...maybe I should read it)

Renee, Your boys in their scout uniforms will be so treasured years from now. It's wonderful. I love the picnic tin with it's little blue flowers. These decorating posts are so much fun. Funny, all my relatives in Michigan have the dropped down painted ceilings. Must be a Midwest thing! Have a great weekend, I know those boy are! E

I'm catching up on your blog here as I have missed the last couple posts. The tags below are darling as well as the 'mending' heart! The boys are sweet going off the camp and your heat sound unbearable!!

Hi Renee!
I hope you are braving the heat and that your boys made it home to air conditioning! I feel guilty because where I live at 3600 ft above sea level it's quite comfortable. Last night I woke up because my feet got cold.

It's so funny to look at those old decorating photos...They remind me of my parents living room..and, my first kitchen with harvest gold and avocado green! Uggghhhh! It's so refreshing to live with pastels, brights and lively prints. I wonder what our kids will think someday when they look back at our current decor.

I hope you have a great week, my sweet friend!
Blessings and thanks for your kind comment on my patriotic post!
Sending cool breezes your way,
Carolynn xo
