Happy Camping

Alright, is this lamb not the cutest.  It came off of an old 8 year old birthday card.  Sweet face.  After a brief scan and some photo shop magic he has been spiffed up for us to enjoy.  I live in the land of Hallmark.  Artist among me.  The very thought that some of my neighbors could be designing cards that future treasure hunters will pine for is just fascinating.  There are a plethora of designs available to share online and I have so many of my own that I have picked up over the years.  My scan pile sits sky high.  Perhaps this is why my love of books grows and grows.  It seemed only natural to start each post with one of these endearing graphics.

Back to thrifting...this great old oak camp stool.  It was very solid and sturdy.  I know there could be a use for this.  In a magazine I saw two of these put together and made into a coffee table.  My plans are not that grand but it does need a new seat.

Sew on one remnant bark cloth fabric piece and it seems to already be brighter.

The staples are hidden under the seam.  I guess I didn't pay attention to the line.  Would have been best if I placed a piece of upholsters tag board in there to make the line more impressive.  (The white cord belongs to the lamp on the table.)  The stool and fabric have a nice summer feel to them.  Something I can pop out on the back porch for an extra seat or place a tray on for an extra table.

All in all I have a nice new stool/table for under 7 dollars.
I leave the camping in my house to the boy scouts.  For now we have two eagle scouts and one on the way up the ranks.  I get my fill of camping sifting through their camping gear once a month.  In June they are headed out to Scout camp for 10 days.  My husband joins them...it is a very long 10 days for me.  On family day my daughter and I join them and then we hit the flea markets on the way home.

I saw two of those stools yesterday at the antique market and thought of bringing them home for the treehouse. They would have been perfect for the little table or the treehouse front porch. There were a couple of things that got away from me while shopping. Your fabric selection is gorgeous. I love that yummy yellow!

I enjoy all your images at the top of the post -always wondered where they came from.

Love the idea of you and your daughter visiting the boys at camp and then flea marketing your way home - AWESOME!

Sounds like someone is headed for Bartle! You did a great job with that little stool! I have never even heard of upholsterers tagboard. I am always learning new things on these blogs. One of my best friends is a project designer/illustrator for Hallmark. She's amazing.

Well this came out sweet. Nice that you and your daughter go to scout camp on family day and then get to look for treasurers.
