Cozy

I put an order in to Joggles a few weeks ago for a half a yard of Ocean Kelp colored felt.  It was a little harder than I thought to find felt by the yard in this nautical color.  All other supplies I had on hand from sales here or there.

Free hand freezer paper shapes first drawn in paper worked like a dream once ironed onto felt and cut with my dressmaker scissors.

Yardsticks and rulers are some of my favorite finds. The graphics are fun.  The words written on them are charming and they come in vintage colors that are hard to replicate.

I keep my collection in this tin doggy can...but I think I might have a new spot for a few of them now.

Careful sequins and beaded stitches.

Glittering in the light I can see why these were so popular.

I tried very hard to stay true to the design without changing it.

These scissors proved to be the hardest part.

Not quite the full size of its original.  I did make mine long enough to house a full yardstick.   There was always a yardstick next to our fridge growing up.  We used it almost every week for household projects and such.  I imagine this to be the cutest spot to keep a yardstick cozy in our home.

I collect yardsticks, too, for the very reasons you mentioned. Don't know what I'm going to do with them but I like the ads and the different shades of wood. Your cozy is cute...you have such patience for all of the cutting and sequinning.
May I use that adorable bear couple at the top of this post? I just love them!!

Our yardstick was kept next to our fridge too, however, we did not store it such a cute "yardstick cozy".

This is a great project. I, too, cannot resist an old vintage yardstick. I love the colors and the names on them. Well done!

Who would pass up a ruler or yardstick? Unfortunately I had to pass on some just recently, they were way overpriced! Love your holder's Renee!

Hi Renee,

What a cute project! I love the sewing theme of the patterns. I also collect yardsticks--the brighter the color the better. Right now they'e in my little shopping cart, waiting for me to decide what creative use to put them too. At one time I thought I'd attach them to a table to use as a cutting and measuring table for sewing. I guess now I just have to find the perfect table!

It must be universal, my Mom kept the yardstick next to the frig too. It must have lost at least a quarter inch from all the banging it took. I remember turning slowly as she used it to mark pins to hem new dresses she made for me!

LOVE! You did a great job of replicating the beaded yardstick bag! I've not heard of Joggles before, so I'll have to go take a look later today when I've got some time.
