Out and about today, did a bit of thrifting and hit an estate sale. It was so beautiful outside. Mid 70's, light wind and sunshine. Who knew spring would finally arrive? There were a few goodies here and there that I picked up. Not the least of which was the lucky Lassie seen above.
That sweet little duck embroidery is a crib sheet. It is the first time I have had one of these. I paid fifty cents for the pillowcases. Estate sales are truly the best place to buy these. Another first, an antique peter pan collar.
Misc. goodies. The red card game I found in the garage is called Touring. It has the cutest graphics that are all transportation related. Rulers, a weakness. I love these neat old fraction rulers. The yard stick at the top has a phone number of 17! A box of game board pieces for my jars. J. Chein dime bank so cute it hurts and misc. Easter cuties that probably aren't vintage but cute just the same.
Books that just arrived at the thrift store. I was drooling. Science at Work has darling kids pictures. A Lutheran catechism book from the 20's. Cute little Jr. Rand McNally.
Look how cute this graphic of Peter Rabbit from the Mother Westwind Why Stories. A very early book with some wear and tear but I can't wait to see what how it relates to Beatrix Potter?
Last but not least, Lassie Come Home. Looks like its never been read. The litho at the beginning of the post is on the inside cover page. This photo etching graces the front cover. It was published in 1940.
Okay, now Lassie was with Timmy on a farm somewhere in middle America when I grew up. Who knew the story originated in Scotland? Probably could have guessed that with a name like Lassie. This map shows the origin on the inside of the book.
I love finding all the extraordinary things that people purchased and coveted. Today I was surprised by all the things I haven't seen before.

Oh the embroidery is wonderful. What a lucky find. Thanks for taking the time to blog.
Your duck embroidery crib sheet is so sweet. I would have also scooped up that card game just for the graphics too. That drawing of Peter Rabbit is divine. So many possibilities. A good day. Happy Wednesday!
what beautiful finds Renee,well done
Hi Renee,
As usual, everyone, everywhere else finds all the goodies I should have......LOL So glad you had fun.
Hugs,
Meri
Good finds! Love the embroidery! Those collars were popular when I was in high school ( that makes me an antique!)- wore them with sweaters or sweater sets. Everyone always wanted a cashmere sweater set :)
