Missing price tags...

I've discovered a new pet peeve when visiting a few favorite antique stores. You might remember my post about NFS. Surely it couldn't be worse than that?  Oh, yes it can. Imagine me walking through the antique mall and spying a marvelous new trinket. I reach for it carefully in hopes that it is within my budget...and I find...it is not priced?  What? I am now walking up to the desk to retrieve the usual "I'll have to call the vendor." Forget it.

Luckily, enough of my items were priced.

A metal diaper pail with a decal.

With the original enamel liner.

Laurie I blame you for this darling affliction...KEWPIE dolls. She has the sweetest dress and was originally a powder container. Mamaw's bowl and a tin tray.

Whitman coloring book set.
(More on this later.)

A timely Americana book.

Beautifully illustrated.

Patriotic.

Then I came across these...two of the sweetest Christmas finds ever.

An embroidery pattern so sweet I can't wait to put it on everything.

Ruth E. Newton illustrated my very favorite book The Night Before Christmas...what?  Ooo did I just squeal in the store? Worth the looks...trust me.  Paired with a very unusual flashlight turned lamp.

Snowy

Slow progress on Dr. Dan's study. We hit a bit of a roadblock after the tile went in. I am slowly gathering a few items here and there to make it the room it needs to be when you walk in the front door of the house.

A trip to the antique store brought me the sweetest treasure today.

A little country doctor toy kit.

Aisles

Schedules back to familiar times and lists full of achievable task I can now get back to my favorite shops. One disappointed and one did not.

Sherbet colors with glitter sprinkles.

A tray to corral desk clutter.

Pink case to hold supplies and a pack of bride place cards.

I never find doll clothes...and then I turned down the aisle and there they were a dollar each.

Feedsacks in shades of teal and pink.

Tiny flecks of vintage Christmas.

Super cute Happy Birthday record.

...the other side.

At the other store I saw a lot of things I loved.  Like this beautiful thermos. Then I had a little sticker price shock and slowly walked away.

There were some darling ideas. Like little people in baby food jars. Again...$4.50 a pop...walk away from the DIY.

I decided to take a few pictures and emulate them myself. I have tons of jars at home...for free.

Spray paint and some old plastic characters...thrift store here I come.

Back at my door...

Oh my goodness I nearly fell apart today as I took my youngest to middle school for her camp day. The day the sixth graders get the lay of the land. The excitement of lockers and lunch rotations. She was up fretting over her outfit and painting nails worried about if she would see one of her friends. It didn't hit me until she got out of the car and walked into the school. She didn't even look back and wave. She ran straight into the arms of her friends giggling with excitement...me all flustered...I drove directly to an estate sale for comfort.

While we were driving through five states for our vacation I was stitching away on these little linen pieces.

Small vintage nursery embroidery images that still had some transfer in them were so fun to work with.

I am hoping to finish these up and get them in the shop by next Friday.  Fingers crossed.

Just to mix it up a bit I threw in some of Barbara's gorgeous feed sacks to paper piece.
A future pillow?

While in Michigan I snuck away from the family for a few hours to run through an antique store in Traverse City. This image melted my heart.

Alright now if you live in Kansas you can't get these Oz books this cheap!

Over sized books that are in mint condition. Merrill Co. publications.

Merry Mailman with a bow tie and this sunshine and rain school book...wait till you see the images.

I nearly lost it in the store when I came across this picture book of 26 Christmas cards to cut out and use.

An impeccably stitched baby blanket.
Bonnie Blue lost her shoe.

Its the little things...a wave...fairy tales...jolly Santa...tiny stitches...baby quilts.

Headed back to another Estate Sale tomorrow for more comfort.

Divine fail...

Claire and I skipped out to the big antique mall this Monday. We haven't seen much at the thrift and estate sales have been too far out of the way. I knew better than to think big because this mall loves to store their goods rather than sell them. Two things made it home with us before our hunger made us cave.

Darling vintage tin shelf. Which incidentally was filled quickly!

The tag stated mint? I found a few dents but at 30% off and I was sold. Detailed with the NBC, ABC and CBS microphones this can sing a tune all day long to me.

Oh and the scrolling...too cute.

Claire just about talked me out of this but my heart was taken.

I probably paid ten dollars too much but it is chippy and scrolly and well its a plant stand.
Who doesn't want to see this loaded up with colorful vines or a collection of pastel McCoy pots?
I promised her I would paint it...it remains in the kitchen for now.

Alright, now back to the divine part. I wait all year for this Church sale. It always has great stuff. I even pay to get in early. Wait in line in the sun for this!  For this?  One indent ornament!

A feed sack doll dress and that's it! I paid more to get in than I spent in the Church.

Well, Lincoln scored a soccer ball so he is happy. He pops them faster than we can buy them.

Yep, there's more...remember I failed.  Once I managed to make it back to my car with my dismal treasure trove I hefted it into the back...bag and all. My car doesn't need a key to turn it on you just have to have it on you. Well, as soon as I saw the trunk going down I knew I was in for it my keys were in the bag and I was locked out. Good times... Yes, God I hear you. I walked the short mile home and asked my newly driving son to give me a ride back to my car...all he could say was "fail"...

Total fail...
