Vintage Valentine
Pink and Red
Today's Valentines don't hold a candle to the sweet images of old.
Cherub Faces
No super hero's, stickers or tattoos.
Animal Friends
I don't even think I put candy with my Valentine growing up.
Old Friends
Just the hand written signature and care in picking out a card that made its way to all my friends and class mates.
This would certainly be the Valentine I would pick over and over again.

Father's Day
Father's Day falls right in the middle of baseball season.
Would they have it any other way?
Not at my house.
My husband and middle son are spending their fourth day at a tournament in Omaha, NE.
One that just happens to coincide with the College World Series on Father's Day.
You know a father planned it...Hopefully they will return safely later today with a trophy in hand.
I could not come up with a better gift than that.

Happy Father's Day to a dad that never misses a practice, performance, game or concert.
Shows up to lead scout troops and camp outs.
He can be found most days in the back yard pitching balls or in the
front yard shooting hoops with a kid in tow.
This is a man who knows nothing more than the schedule of his kids and keeps none of his own.
He is up before us and home when dinner is ready.
He can cook, do laundry, and works tirelessly for his family.
This is a dad who plays video games with his kids till all hours of the night and laughs himself silly.
Thank you for going above and beyond...
This is a dad that taught me all that I know.
He knows no gender.
I can mow, cut a tree down, scale a fish, bait my line and cook rue for gumbo.
This is dad who said read a book to find the answer and still gives me books to find them...
He taught me to be smart, quiet, garden, work with my hands and told me I can and do whatever I want.
He still does....thanks Dad
Happy Father's Day

Anniversaries
Sixteen years, three kids, six dogs, a cat, four fish, eight cars, three houses, four schools for the children and medical school for the husband...It seemed like fifteen was monumental...sixteen feels like the home stretch. Our pastor is retiring this year...the one that married us...baptized our children...and confirmed our oldest. It makes us feel sad for the loss of such a special mentor. He helped shaped our family into such a faithful home. We will miss his sermons desperately, and hope to grow into the new ones.
Something tells me the first sixteen are tougher than the next sixteen.
Today, just like the morning we got married life got in the way of anything special. No honeymoon for us. We planned our wedding around medical board exams and my college graduation. Our first son arrived in time to celebrate our first anniversary.
This evening spent on a ball field cheering for our middle child. One of us in the dug out...one of us in the stands. At night before we pass out of exhaustion we make sure to mention how nice it will be to spend endless hours together in a few short years...maybe he will pick up antiquing...maybe I will go back to school to become a nurse?
Our gift to each other is sticking together.

Memorial Day
Our family has a long line of Air Force Veterans both current and retired. On Monday while we are all BBQ'ing and enjoying the sun our family will remember all the days the young men and women gave up with their families. From the bottom of our hearts we thank them for their service, our freedom and the love of country we share.
God's Blessings to all of those who have fallen and continue the fight for freedom.

Happy Valentine's Day
Happy Valentine's Day...I get to spring from the house and volunteer at the school for my daughters Valentine party. I have been sick for a week and I have a case of cabin fever. Excitement can hardly be contained and yes the thrift stores are on my list. But first...
A Valentine for my husband. I spent my weekend knee deep in household chores because of my sickness last week. My husband will be out the door well before me and home in time to take one of three to a scout meeting. My daughter has a dance performance and my oldest son has band at high school.
So much for romance.
All this aside I am happy to get back to my normal schedule and my normal chores with a little vintage fun thrown in for good measure. I forgot how wonderful it was to be able to breath..terrible head cold.
On another note, Happy Harris of Happy Loves Rosie is working on a few blog updates for my page this week. She is just a dream. I was so happy with the banner she made me that I went back for more. They should be installed some time this week. Her blog and store are a wonderful place to lose your self for a few hours if you need a vintage fix. Thank you Happy!
