Remember June and all of her treasures? During summer break my daughter and I were lucky enough to shop her estate. Today was the day I shopped her mother's estate. Matilda was her name. She lived in the home with June during her widow years. This mother and daughter pair spent long hours stitching, cooking and teaching music. These are a few of Matilda's lovely items.
Tiny notes that fall out of stationary found in almost every room of the house. With no living children to follow the family all these treasures have been sold off.
Embroidery tins filled with projects still to be done.
Labels with fonts that are long since forgotten.
Tapes and twill to replenish a dwindling supply.
Rick Rack in colors of old. All in one hundred percent cotton and ready for use.
Trims so divine I had to put my readers on to see the detail.
Chenille, glass beads, sequins, waxed cording and more.
Cards all unused that were meant for music students and friends.
A bevy of linens all worked by hand.
All different eras of children's games some still in their wrappers.
Graphics and goodies to remind of the past. This is the story of a widow Matilda and her loving daughter June who never married. June lived to be in her 90's. What a wonderful pair.

Oh you really found some wonderful treasures at the estate sale!! Wonderful trims, tins, tackle box, linens, cards.... WOWSERS!! (I found an old tackle box at N&N's this past weekend too. Will have to do a post soon. Thank so much for telling me about that place!)
Oh wow, what great finds. I don't go to many estate sales because they are always overpriced around here. Just think of all the goodies I am probably missing. I better go check the paper to see what is out there tomorrow since I have to get out early!
What wonderful treasures you found Renee. I'm sure that Matilda and June would be so happy knowing that their little things will be safe with you. I always wonder about the stories behind the things I find at yard/garage/estate sales. I'm much more attracted to the common evryday items than the big flashy ones. Loved seeing all of your recent children's hanky scores. So sweet.

How wonderful these treasures ended up with someone who will appreciate them as much as Matilda. That Halloween card (esp the cat on it) are just too cute. E in TN
Well you sure did score and I am sure you will use every bit of those supplies, and the Halloween card is oh so yummy right up my alley. Hugs, Diane
It's nice that you have some of their beautiful things because we know you'll cherish them and create new projects with them! My mother in law gave me a bunch of her old trim, ric rac, etc. and the colors are just gorgeous ~ like they say, they sure don't make 'em like they used to!

Stop me in my tracks Renee! Scrolling and enjoying Matilda so very much, I couldn't believe my eyes to see the Heart of Ohio pillow. I can't tell you how long I have been wanting to find something easy enough for me to sew that is cute as can be. What a genius you are in your pillow creations! I now know exactly the booth I am headed for the next time I visit the antique mall. Your blog always gives me such a smile - I think it must be YOU! Elizabeth
You have such a lovely blog, and those aprons are devine :)
These are the real treasures aren't they? The stories & connection to the past...I never think of the items as items but thoughts of the people who once owned them. I picture them sitting on the front porch chatting and stitching on a summer evening after the "chores" are done. I always felt I was born too late.
