Beginnings...

I run from quilting...literally the other direction.  They are big projects with way too many seams that need to match up.  Something I can never get quite right.  But sometimes the urge just overwhelms you and so it begins.

Vignette magazine started this Hexagon quilt in their second issue.  I was smitten with the colors and design.

It doesn't hurt that it is all hand work.  Car line easy.

Stacks of hexis are in my future as I need to make over 900 of them.

When once there was one in the beginning...may there be ever so many more in the end.

Are you kidding me? I'm so proud of you for making this quilt! Can't wait to see it when done. I'm like you, my seams never match up and it is so frustrating to me! But I seam to keep trying :) Your fabric is going to be a winner for this quilt.

I love the design and I love the colors you have made so far! Oh my 900!! That will keep you busy! Good luck!
I have some new Avon lip balms to give away. I would love to send some to your girls. I bought a bunch from my neice and was planning on handing them out at work but I was not able to go back to work after last back surgery. If you would like some just let me know and I would be happy to send them to you. I am sending some to Kim's family too.
Hugs,
Lynn

I'm super impressed. Quilting is so much of a commitment. I wish I had inherited some of my mother's quilting and sewing genes. I bow to your ambition and talents, Renee.

That's going to be beautiful. I know exactly what you mean about quilting - so tempting, but I don't think I have enough stick-to-it-iveness.

Oh wow 900 of them. It's what I would call an 'on going' quilt.

Never in one million years would I attempt 900 hexis. I would be working on them still gray haired and 80. My mom is the quilter in our family and I give her requests. (she is currently working on a yo-you quilt for me...I will have to ask her how many yo-yos she has finished.)

Oh Renee, you are brave! Those are hard! I am way too impatient for this kind of hand sewn quilt. But YOU are good at that sort of thing, so I know it will look beautiful when you are finished.

That is so great that you are working on a quilt. My mom is a quilter and I have said many times that I want to make one. I always back away from it, though, because I know once I start, nothing else will get done. Last night I made a new To-Do List. I don't see a quilt in my future until I can get through all 27 or 28 of the things I wrote down. Maybe I should add Make A Quilt!

Well look at you! I share your sentiments regarding quilts and the only ones I've made are by hand too! So excited to follow your progress:)

Hi, I'm back ... blogspot.com question. Can you tell me how to take an image (such as you have on your blog header) and make it long enough to stretch across the entire top of the blog, without distorting the image? And if you can, I will thank you from the bottom of my heart :)

I love the colors!!! I would love to be a quilter, and have made one top that was a sampler, but I am hard to impatient!

900 Hexagons would scare me to death!!!

Blessings

Oh, I love doing that pattern because it is all hand work. You can take it everywhere and get a few done. It will go faster than you think. Yours is going to be so pretty with the colors you chose. I have got to find that magazine. I've never seen it before.

Good for you! You should take lots of pics of those cute hexies piling up.

I've been to 2 quilting bees but never attempted one on my own! I do love to work with colorful fabrics, though.

Desgning your galrlad has been like designing a quilt! I THINK I finally have it right. ♥

Renee! That it! You MUST host a Hexagon Club. This is exactly what I have been waiting for. A quilt I can do by hand. I must tell you I have a friend who works on one using a plastic template. She connects the blocks together as she goes popping the templates out after each one is connected. Oh I can see your color pallet already, and am swooning!
Tomorrow - fabric store!!!
Oh, I came hear to say you have made MY DAY by joining my tag swap. I can't wait to see your collected bits and pieces.

Aww that is going to look so lovely. I loved doing my hexagon quilt i must get on and finish it. I started it last september and its in the middle of being hand quilted but its been sat there for months. It was so relaxing sewing them together and watching the flowers form. Have fun with it ;-)) dee xx

yep, that's alot of hex's to cut out, but doing some here and there, while watching TV, waiting on dinner, waiting on kids, etc, etc, it won't seem like such a mountain to climb! And you'll be SO glad that you tackled it and love the finished work.
