Ghost Gingham Apron

I have been working my way through my recent vintage apron pattern purchases.  During my research/Internet time I came across the sweetest little gingham chicken scratch fabric.  Someone had obviously put a lot of time and effort into it.  Certain that it had life still in it I purchased it and knew exactly what to do with it.

Now I don't know if the stitcher had intended for this to be an apron but it sure looks cute this way.  The pattern cut out beautifully except it called for more fabric than I had.

Black gingham sash material made the perfect compliment. While rick rack trim added a nice edging to the bottom.

One thing I have noticed on these older patterns is the fullness of the skirt.  These aprons are true working aprons.  Fabric wraps all the way around the back.  Not a stingy half apron here.

One of these days I will make an apron that I have to keep...but this one just screams Kim K. to me.  She is a darling blog friend who just happens to adore Halloween.  So much so that her entire home is decorated.  Her blog is full of ideas and will soon be sporting this perfect little Halloween apron!
Thanks for the inspiration Kim...

The apron is adorable and I am sure Kim is going to love it!! Your Halloween tree is adoreable. I am going to take the plunge and learn to sew and make aprons!! My new neighbor that moved across the road early in the summer is a fellow crafter and she is a painter and a sewer, two things that I do not know how to do, so she said she would teach me. I have told hubby I want a sewing machine for Christmas. I have a Kenmore machine from my Mom but it has all the different cams and attachments boxes of them!! I think I just want a regular machine to learn on or should I get that one serviced and learn on that machine?? It was purchased in the early 70s and I have the books and all the boxes of attachments that came with it. My Mom never liked it so that is why she gave it to me years ago. Let me know what you think!
Hugs,
Lynn
