Tiers

They used to have great little patterns in the newspaper. Some were quilts others crafts...and some were one yard wonders.  Novel little aprons you could craft from 36 little inches of fabric. Most likely the size of a feed sack. I would have wanted to work at the feed store just to see the fabric on the sacks and procure my fair share.

This is my version of such a clipping. Tiers of vintage kitchen fabric.

Ladled in geometric fifties finery.

Lined with bubble gum pink and stamped with a new label.

Complete with a millinery brooch.

Curved and cute.

This apron sings tea party.

Or perhaps Easter Dinner hostess.

I love the fabric AND the pattern on this one! Note how it makes her waist look small due to the wave of the ruffles on the hips. I read a little sign that said, "Remember when we used to have metabolism?" That's the apron that would make a waist look like it did in my 30s!

I wish I could see what all those feed sacks looked like stacked up in the stores! I was wondering if you have ever ran across a pattern to make a linning for a wooden, round apple basket? I remember my Mom using this basket for a laundry basket and it had a liner. I'd like to make one. If you can help I'd appreciate it. Have a wonderful Easter.

Wow, how gorgeous! Love your apron! My mom used feed sacks to make my little "bloomer" shorts and tops when I was a little girl. I remember sitting beneath her sewing machine, catching threads. I don't know how she managed to never drop pins on my head. I love looking at vintage and new versions of vintage feed sack material. Thanks for sharing your beautiful apron!

Oh I really like that one! The fabric looks so familiar.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if they would put those old quilt patterns and aprons back in the paper for us to order? The quilt shop I told you about has had a book of patterns from the Kansas City Star. According to my mom, they were great patterns.
