Blank Canvas

A few weeks ago I ordered more canvas for bins. I had been using some very soft canvas like cotton but I needed a fabric that had more structure and weight. What came in the mail disappointed me until I started sewing with it.

It has almost a duck cloth feel and works beautifully as a neutral backdrop for all these vintage quilt pieces.

Remnants of my sewing chair makeover, these honeycombs are perfect for canvas bins.

At nine inches across they make a bold vintage statement.

Smaller ones made pocket sized.

This is the sweetest little nursery print.

Pink and blue floral feedsack lined.

In hindsight I see this is not the right trim choice. Obviously, this one was done at the end of the day. I will fix it first thing in the morning.

I hope to finish the others tomorrow and have them listed by mid week.

Lincoln was my buddy today. He is so happy to have me sewing and his spot right within my view. School starts Thursday and we will be happy to get back to our regular schedule.

That's a really neat way to use your grandmother's garden pieces!
I have a few too.
Are you putting straps on them?
The first photo is adorable too!

You really do amazing work. Your bins are just gorgeous. Lincoln is so darn handsome. I can't believe your school starts on Thursday. Our new faculty start this week and I'm swamped at the University, but Mr. Mom is home a few more weeks from his elementary schools. His honey-do list isn't quite finished yet. Smile.

That fabric looks lovely - I am a big fan of sturdy utility fabrics - and a perfect background for those hexagons. Cannot believe your school year is starting already! We're definitely in after-Labor-Day country here.

RENEEEE...don't change that trim. It is absolutely perfect. I love it. Isn't it wonderful to get the wrong item and then realize that the mistake is actually a blessing....?
