WARNING....Vivian do not go any further unless you want to spoil your own surprise!
Viv is obviously my swap partner and I am so excited to be a part of this. Something different to play with for a bit. Viv's Halloween Swap involves a witch hat that holds Halloween goodies and she invited me into a small ornament swap as well. For those of you who only see the picture worthy projects I will let you know now that this Halloween ornament took 4 fails before I came up with the final product.
A vintage tally card image is combined with crepe paper and a cup cake liner. I used a few vintage game pieces to add a caption and dimension.
On the back I placed a vintage seal and some old gold Dennison letters.
All of these were glued to a paper mache disc that I painted black and ran a glittery black pipe cleaner around.
Now I know this doesn't quite look like the witch hat but I am getting there. It is the bottom of a paper mache round box that I decoupaged with Halloween paper.
Because I couldn't figure out how to fill the hat and keep things in it I affixed it to the box and made the hat part of the lid.
The very best part...a show ribbon any goblin would wear set in a tulle skirt. Anagrams spelling out the word of the spooky day.
Why yes that is a Christmas light reflector. Some hat pins in felted balls make perfect pumpkins too.
Black glitter paper on the base of the hat make it shimmer. (Before anything was put on the hat I painted the hat black.) I simply pinked the edge of the paper and wrapped it around the hat on an angle at the back.
This one is very hard to let go but I know it is going to the perfect Halloween home right after I fill it will all the goodies. Thanks Viv for hosting.
I will leave you with this photo....I almost had it made this morning. When I went to curl my hair, I came back to find this at the foot of the bed. One of these days it will be a proper made bed...maybe?

Your witch's hat turned out great, Renee! Vivian will love it. I'm in the swap, too, and all my goodies are not going to fit into my hat ~ no way, no how! So I'm going to wrap them pretty.
SQUEAL! Your ornament and witch is is simply marvelous. Love all the special details...especially the tulle and the anagram letters on the hat. I knew you'd find just the right vintage graphics. Perfectly YOU! Halloween hugs!
Well at least you had plenty of 'help' making the bed! heehee! Love your sweet Halloween pretties! I need to get busy crafting!
Both your ornament and witches hat are the BEST!!! So clever!!! Love the picture of your pooches on the bed....I think their California cousins live with me!!

Great project and love how you kept adding vintage doo-dad after doo-dad. Love the anagram BOO detail.
Super dooper cute for Viv! Just adore! And those sleeping Bullies are just too precious. Great post!
Great job on both Renee, I seriously need that witch hat! I am going to have to join a swap someday, they seem like a lot of fun!
A very special piece of headwear! Front and back sides are both adorable! You have a way of making both sides equally wonderfully!
Renee you hat turned out perfect. I just love it. I was to late to join Viv's swap but I did find some hats I am going to do. Viv is going to love it.

That hat is the cutest. I love the vintage graphics. Great job. Your doggies are too cute lounging on the bed!
Renee, your Halloween crafts are gorgeous! But your graphics are outstanding, always bring a smile to my face, thanks, Marilyn.
Oh Renee! This is just wonderful!!! She will be so happy! :)
So cute! I love that you put it on a box, so it's functional too! Viv is lucky to get this spooky creation!
Hey! The bulldogs doubled! LOL I didn't realize that there are two! Haha.
Erica :)
Your witches hat is fantastic!! Hasn't this been such a fun swap? My hat is finished and I have almost got all my goodies finished too, there is no way they fill fit in the hat though! I would have never thought of giving the hat a base. Great Idea!
Blessings

Your creativity amazes me - this is just terrific. (And it would be VERY hard to part with - do you have it in you to make another?) The dogs are too funny. I have from time to time pulled the covers up over a pet and left a lump, but your dogs would make pretty big lumps.
OH Wow this is so so so cute! where did you find these halloween images? the kids in the pumpkin and all so so so cute!!!
Luv this!
Renee, you rocked this one - she is going to be thrilled!!
You never cease to amaze me, Renee! What a spectacular topper you have ingeniously embellished with goodies! Trick or Treat! Viv is going to love...love..love it! What fun!
Have a sweet day, dearest Renee!

Your hat is GREAT. I love looking at everyone's Witch's hat. I like your idea of making the hat the lid. I couldn't figure out how to incorporate that into my hat swap, so I did the same thing Kathy is doing making everything look pretty.
Chris
