Other peoples quilts.

Vintage can summon up memories from the past. It can remind you of the things you didn't have. Sometimes it can help you complete someone elses dream. I think about these things when I drift up and down the hallways or in and out of houses at sales.  Who played with this and why did they keep it? Other times I wonder why some things went unfinished.

This work in progress was found in pieces. I have managed to finish it into a lap size quilt. It was originally hand stitched and I did find remnants of machine stitching.

The fabric feedsacks are crisp and bright. No lingering smell and only a few stains.

Perhaps it is wonky and a bit askew I can't help but think that someone started it and needed me to finish it.

This was my inspiration. If you know me you know I have longed to quilt and tried to quilt with no success...yet. The talented and gifted Miss Renee (yes, another one!) sent me one of her creations. One that she said looked like me.

Her quilter did an amazing job on every little stitch.

Each fabric choice so perfectly matched.
Thank you Renee, I needed this quilt more than you know.

Oh! It is just perfect and what a beautiful friend she is to you!
I completely understand what you mean about feeling like you need to finish that job another creative began. It feels, somehow, like honoring their efforts. Oh yes.

Well, that baby quilt is cute and does look like your sewing/playroom! I'm so happy you found that unfinished masterpiece and put it together! I can't help but think someone is smiling knowing the project begun long ago is done!

What adorable quilts. I too am an unsuccessful quilter. I don't understand why, I come from a long line of quilters and I can sew, why can't I quilt??? I think it has to do with not having enough patience!

Hope you have managed to reign in those migraines. Mine are doing some better! Thank God!

Blessings

Oh Renee, Isn't your gifted quilt wonderful. It is so you!
I was so hoping to your name for our Whitmans Sampler box swap. It will be such fun for you. You will need to purchase 6 small boxes from WalMart $1.25 apiece for a total of twelve. I'm letting everyone know about it so early because they are time consuming to make - BUT FUN!
I hope you have a lovely weekend. Thanks again for all you share! Elizabeth

What a great quilt! (And gift, and friend!) Finding old quilt squares really makes me want to sit down and sew. I have a little suitcase filled with my favorites, waiting for me.
