Why is it that I can place a memory with faces and things but never dates? I often wonder if not knowing how old I was is part of the mystery. "Oh, I remember that I made it with girl scouts. Afterwards, we played red rover and I remember it was warm out." Not..."That was 1982." Regardless, I am thankful to have remembered the thought.
Made in my very early elementary years, this sweet Kewpie has somehow managed to survive 11 houses and countless Christmases. The first of many crafts. I remember circling her belly with just a hint of rouge and gilding those tiny wings.
A few new old ornaments from my gatherings this past year.
This one has just a hint of green around the middle.
A few from my father's tree growing up.
I should tell you the rest of them are buried in a crawlspace in Honolulu. My uncle refuses to relinquish them.
A crackling snow scene.
Perfect pink polka dots.
Silent stenciled night.
Indents in new shapes.
Lovely tiny stripes.
Glittered stars on shiny brites.
And a patriotic gem.

I'm glad your kewpie survived. And I'm glad you've managed to collect such pretty ornaments to keep her company.
I have very few Christmas ornies from the past, but I do have one or two that I longingly fondle when decorating the tree. I have one large gold orb from my grandma and I gaze adoringly at it and all it's crackles and just pray I don't break it.

I have one very similar to these that were my folks....it would make me nuts to think that those other ornaments of your Dad's are in a crawl space anywhere, let alone as far away as Hawaii! Have faith, someday they will find their way to you! I agree with Tammy, time for a recon mission for sure! :)

I love all your ornaments. Each one has it's own story, I'm sure. I lived in Hawaii for several years and my hopes are that those priceless ornaments aren't beyond finding. The humidity is such a bugger....and, it sounds like your Uncle is too!

Opening our boxes of ornaments every year is like meeting old friends again! That kewpie is adorable. What is she made of? I have a few of my grandparents and parents Christmas ornaments, they are the most special.

All of these decorations are so pretty. All I can say about the uncle is it's a shame he won't allow people to enjoy them.
I'm like you, Renee, in that I can't remember dates if my life depended on it but I can remember details. On the other hand, my hubby remembers dates "five years ago, we had...." Drives me nuts!! LOl
I didn't comment on the quesitons you had about Etsy as I am in the same boat. I've got several ideas but not sure what to do. The comments and encouraging words were helpful to me as well.
