Monthly

We have this "vintage junk fair" that happens on the first Friday of the month. However, it is downtown...like really downtown. Outside my comfortable ten mile radius. I know I sound old stubborn. Spare me the criticism. Feeling brave I called upon my (I don't thrift and antiques are for old people) best girlfriend Amy.  I promised her lunch if she would provide the company!

A wheelbarrow full of goods...child sized though.

I remember now why I didn't go before.  These vendors really like their goods.

While I appreciate that they had some items that were unique I was not fooled by the clay tags and burlap ribbon they were wrapped in.

What I loved was the bounty of fabric that I could not get enough of...I think I bought almost all of it.

One whole pattern tucked in because it was priced reasonably.

What bothered me most was how unapproachable the dealers were. It was like a herd of cattle.  I think one person might have asked how we were doing? Well, I did have a couple laughs with a friend and brought home a few goodies...and I realized I am proudly Old Fashioned!

Easter Swap Note:
The sweetest package from my partner Cindy of Treasures in my Heart arrived today in the mail. Thank you Cindy for the beautiful bunting, cards and Easter basket. Everything is perfect.

OMG! I love the child's wheelbarrow and watering can! Oh and the fabric! It isn't as much fun when the dealers aren't up for chatting. It looks like you still had a great time!!

From the looks of your haul, I think your trip was worth the aggravation. (But it's always more fun when the people are nice.)

I'm proudly old-fashioned as well... I suppose that's what I get for being "drug" on antiquing trips with my grandma, aunt and mother while I was growing up ;) Now I thrift and antique on my own! Great finds!!

I would have gladly filled up my wicker basket with goodies today! I'm so glad you were able to spot some lovely finds. That wheelbarrow and pink watering can is just delightful.

PS. My Lil Vintage Storybook post tomorrow is going to feature a mini wooden wheelbarrow and your teeny tiny watering can. How's that for luck!

I would put up with grumpy people for goodies like that! It does amaze me tho, how often people lack those social meet and greet skills when trying to sell...c'mon! Loving the decals and the bunny.

I love the fabrics and the little wheelbarrow! Would you believe me if I told you that I have not been there, yet. First weekends seem always seem to be busy for me. I have heard about the line. How many of the places did you stop by? GJJ? LB? more? The owner at GJJ is really sweet, and I know she appreciates feedback from customers. (Our sons were great buddies in elem. school.)

Hi Renee!
You found some wonderful treasures...even if you had to brave downtown and business-as-usual venders. Isn't it funny how the warmth of a shop owner, with even less merchandise, will bring you back time after time? Oh, the fabrics caught my eye...They are ones that my Gramma Peggie made aprons, quilts and dolly dresses from...They are delightful!
Thank you for popping in and commenting on my blog, my sweet friend!
Have a great weekend!
